Anyone have a dysfunctional Lewmar 700 Pro? I've got a friend here in Juneau with a new windlass that has some chewed up gypsy teeth wanting to hold onto the rode and return it to the deck. He's pretty frustrated and about done with it. I figure there has to be a donor junker out there somewhere from which a gypsy transplant could revive his. _________________ Steve and Colleen Torrence

Lewmar has a decent warranty. Why not go through the warranty process? If that fails, buy the part. We had an issue with ours and they replaced the whole unit no charge. We sent ours to Fluid Technologies 3477 Lakeshore Blvd. Jacksonville Fl. 32210 phone 904 384 9659 They are an authorized factory repair facility. They were very nice people to deal with I must say.

Thanks for this info. I'll pass it on. Says he's done with Lewmar. I don't know the whole story but apparently, talking to them didn't work out the way he wanted it to. |

You might do some research by Googling up "Lewmar Customer Service" (and similar) and see what the Internet consensus is.
It's been my experience that Customer Service quality and follow through is at least somewhat dependent on the customer's attitude and approach to the service representative: be positive, reasonable, and stand your ground.
Coming in with your tommyhawk drawn can get you going out the back door with it sticking in the side of your head, so to speak.
