hello all,
we just brought "Soulmate" home a few days ago. She is our new c-dory 25. We will keep her in friday harbor. I tried to use the wallis stove, I am using kerosene. It ran for 15 minutes and the burner wasn't even hot. It would be afternoon before I could get my morning coffee at this rate. Are we doing something wrong? Stove seems pretty simple. Turn the on switch on and turn the temp. knob to hi, what else is there?
thanks

Obviously your wallas didn't ignite. Somethings wrong. Seeing as how your boat is so new, I'd take it back to the dealer and let him figure it out.
It should only take a few minutes for it to get hot. _________________ Larry S

If it was the first time you used the stove, it may have initiated the shutdown cycle before the kerosene made it all the way to the burner. Normally, it takes two tries to get the fuel pumped all the way through a dry fuel line. If the stove doesn't ignite in a minute or two, it will automatically shut down.
Try it again, listening carefully for the click-click-clicking of the fuel pump. If the pump is working, your second try should get the fuel to the burner. It should ignite in about one minute, and in the next minute or so, the little red light should come on steady. If the red light starts blinking, it means it's again going into shutdown mode. Look and see if the fuel line is full (no visible air bubbles). If it looks like the fuel still hasn't fully filled the line, wait for the complete shutdown cycle (the red light goes out). Try once more. If that fails, then the factory needs to know.
Good luck.

Also if you flip the on off switch too many times the computer gets lost. unplug the power from the switch board. its on the right side near the bottom of the green board. then after 5 mins plug it back in. I have several bad starts with my wallis and one two trips to the dealer in seattle. last weekend I took the whole thing apart. Now it wortks fine. you can also adjust the fuel flow but I would have to show you or take pic's of it. _________________ Thomas J Elliott

Sheesh. What do you expect for twenty four hundred bucks? Hot coffee too?
All good tips you're getting here. those thing are very tempermental. It's kind of like they have a personality, and you have to get to know them in order to get along with them. But once you see eye to eye with the thing, you'll be mighty glad you have it.
And remember that the left side burner gets way hotter than the right side, so start your coffee perking on it and then slide it over. Also you have to have a flat bottom coffee pot. _________________ TyBoo Mike

thanks for your input. I think something is really not right with the unit and I will call the factory on monday. I see white smoke ( I think its unlit fuel) drifting down from the right side of the burner when I open the cabinet and look in. Also there is no exhaust blowing out of the side thru hull vent. The right burner never even gets warm and the left one barley gets warm while I'm sitting there wondering if the fumes are getting to me because it sure smells.
we were already to take off this weekend but without coffee in the morning its day trips until we get this figured out. Also what seems like the exhaust fan on the bottom of the unit just blows into the cabinet wonder if the factory could have vented the wrong fan
thanks everybody for your input

That does sound like its worth having the installer check it out. Would just add one thing in case you missed it in other threads about the Wallas: on mine I've learned to turn it on (1) with the engine running and (2) with the knob turned all the way to the highest heat level. Once its going it will work fine and you can adjust the heat to wherever you want it.
Hope they clear up your problems! _________________ Tom on Otter |

Hi
thought I would up date anybody that was ready about our wallis woes. On our boat the galley is lowered about 3 inches so we can have seating over the sink and stove this lowered the bottom of the stove so when we went out in some rough conditions water made its way through the exhaust vent and into the burner. We turned the thru hull gooseneck from horizontal to facing up and will add more exhaust hose so we can loop it . After taking it all apart yesterday we got the stove working great. its all just a learning curve. After being a life long sailor it sure is nice to get somewhere at 20 knts. javascript:emoticon(' ')
