If you're "tired" of the "pressure" to overpay for car maintenance, then we have the deal (and the tortured wordplay) for you. This Rand MacNally system has dropped to it's best price yet: a massive $84 less than you'd pay elsewhere. It measures temperatures from -40°F to 257°F and pressures up to 80 PSI.

Any idea IF 2 of these sets (each one monitors 4 tires) could be use to monitor like this: One set for the truck tires, and another set for the trailer tires?

Yes, but the maximum distance is 10 meters (from another website that gave these figures). The detailed reviews of TPMS brands often say that the distances given are inflated (no pun intended). 10 meters is one of the longer distances for these systems. Mine is 10 meters and, although my distance is a little shorter, I don't appear to get updates as routinely as my documentation states. It still seems often enough, but I suspect I may go several minutes between updates on the trailer tires. Often enough to see if a bearing was going, but not the instantaneous readings claimed in the owner's manual.

The reviews also suggested that what is between the monitor and the sensors effects reception distance (not surprising). A camper or canopy on a truck could be enough interference to impair the transmission.

I had my TPMS go off for the first time at Lake Powell. When I pulled my boat out of the water, one trailer tire beeped and showed low pressure. The wheel and tire was wet, the wind was blowing, and it was on the shady side. The drop in temperature caused by evaporative cooling was enough to drop the tire pressure below my low pressure setting (36 psi). After a few minutes, the tire warmed back up to ambient temperature (85 degrees) and pressure was fine. Nice to see it is that sensitive.

I wasn't using my trailer or tow vehicle at night at Yellowstone (20 degrees). The TMPS might have gone off for all tires in that case. Pushing any button turns off the beeping and flashing, but then its up to the driver to make sure that everything is okay.

Thank you Mark. I have a TPMS on my motorcycle. First experience with one and it is amazing to see the fluctuations as I ride. Making me really consider a system for the Boat trailer too.

Sorry for late reply as I dont receive topic notifications and the settings in set to ON. Yes 2 sets will work.
The effective range for Class B bluetooth gizmos is approx 33 feet.
As a side comment, I installed the TPMS and tire pressures was lower than my dial gauge by several psi. I bought a Consumer Reports recommended digital pressure gauge from Amazon and found my vintage Sears dial gauge was bad, and digital gauge agreed with TPMS readings.

I think the deal is over on ebay and Best Buy

Brent, I asked IF you could use 2 sets, each of 4 sensors, one for the truck and one for the trailer, monitoring all 8 tires at the same time?.

Hi Harvey

My mistake. I thought I corrected my posting but the answer is I dont know and have not tried it on the phone. I assume you install 2 apps or one apps would show 8 sensors but not sure, and would contact the vendor

Thanks Brent. Just curious, and contacting the vendor sometimes works.

Harvey,

Now I see your concern. Each schrader valve sending device probably has its own frequency so that the receiver can differentiate RF, LF, RR, LR. But if you have two sets going at once, what are the chances of interference because of shared frequencies? Good question. Maybe two different brands of TMPS would be required? If there is an industry standard for frequencies, what about a nearby or passing vehicle with TMPS? I didn't see anything about this when I did my research, only that the senders were claimed to have different effective ranges.

m2cw is each Bluetooth device and in case, TPMS sensor has an unique Bluebooth identifier just dont know it the Rand McNally app will work with more than 4 sensors or a second app if possible to install would be needed (doubtful) thus the contact the vendor.

Still on sale
