We are going to do the Western Erie canal in early September and I am looking for a place to launch and then store our truck & trailer for about tree weeks, somewhere around Tonawanda or North Tonawanda. Any information would help. We will be traveling as far as Seneca Lake and then back. Thanks _________________ Larry K C-Brat #150

You could go the other direction - Seneca Lake State Park has a launch ramp and long term parking. I would suggest you contact them first to insure this hasn't changed since we were there.
The Erie Canal is a real treat - enjoy!
Best wishes,

Larry,
I looked at Active captain for the area and it seems like two marinas on Grand Island have good ratings and maybe safe storage for your tow rig.
Island Marina
1093 E River road
Grand Island,
New York 14120 Phone # 716 773 2839
River Oak Marina
75001 E. River road
Grand Island
New York 14120 Phone # 716 774 0050
We are heading up the Hudson River from NYC around the first week of September. Our plan is to go thru the Champlain canal and Lake Champlain all the way to the Richelieu river and the Chambly and orr canal to the St Lawrence at Sorel. I'm parking the tow rig at Rouces Point New York where will pull the boat to head home. You and your girl friend ought to consider joining us. They say it's beautiful up there. Hope you both are doing well.

We left our truck and trailer at the waterfront marina/park in Buffalo. It closes at night, and there is a gate with security patrols at night. We caught a train back to Buffalo from a town on the Hudson river where we left our boat in a marina for a few days. You can probably catch the train at many towns along the way. The downtown Buffalo train station is a short walk or taxi ride back to the marina. |
