That's the "little" one. The big one sounds even better!

We looked at Jawbones for our son, but for sound quality, settled on the Bose Soundlink Mini. Then we ended up getting one for ourselves for home. Fantastic sound across the entire audio spectrum, as you would expect from Bose. A pricey little guy, though, at about $250. For the boat, though, we are using a Pyle Soundbox Splash, which is waterproof or at least water resistant. About $70.

The Pyle is not in the same league as either the Bose or the Jawbone for sound quality but is entirely adequate for our music for sundowners on the cockpit! With all my tunes on my iPhone and the Bose at home and the Pyle on the boat, all our other stereos and CD players are just obsolete!

I know! it amazes me what these little things can do.

The Soundlnk Mini sounds like I'd really like it (from reading reviews and what I'm looking for), but I just wish they would "modernize" the charging (such as USB cable plugs into unit and charges built in battery). That would make it really nice for travel, boat, etc. (vs. the dedicated wall wart/cradle it has).

It is down to $199 on Amazon (Prime too) though.

I keep waffling between the various speakers (sound/charging type/etc.). Meanwhile getting along on an "ancient" JBL that works on rechargeable AA's (but no Bluetooth).

Another one to consider is the UE Boom. It is compact and produces some very nice sound.

I just purchased a slightly used one for $136 shipped on Ebay.
