I just bought used 26 Venture without a single rod holder. I am interested in tips on the type of rod holders, brand and placement. The boat will be used for salmon and halibut fishing in Alaska.
I am also looking at putting a rod holder on the ceiling of the cabin----advice and suggestions welcome. Thoughts on Du-Bro brand? How to affix to ceiling?
Thanks.... |

One option that works without putting any holes in the boat is to use the CE Smith top mount rod holders. They're very pricey but occasionally you can find them online a little cheaper. They are very well made. I have 6 total. Two are mounted on each side on the handrails on the roof like this.
And then I mounted two more - one on each handhold on the bulkhead like this
The 2nd image actually has a mount I purchased from West Marine for the net holder. I bought a 2-pack on sale. They were complete trash and came apart in a few months. I later replaced them with the much more expensive adjustable clamp-on CE Smith holders. THe adjustable ones won't fit on the top rail but they will fit on the bulkhead handholds. Since they are adjustable, you can angle the net out. _________________ Roger on Meant to be |
