Hey folks,
Has anyone had any experience with the Sierra Marine and Drive Parts? I'm seeing more and more marine parts suppliers carrying these. There appears to be everything from oil and fuel filters to water pump kits.
I'm one that believes in using OEM parts whenever possible, but Sierra does appear to be a money saver.
Any input? Thanks! Boat safe and be safe. :D |

I have used them for a number of years. I would say OK stuff, but perhaps not quite the same quality as either OEM, or Racor. The reason I used them was that several boats I owned came with their filters--and it was easiest to use that, than sort thru what else would work. _________________ Bob Austin

They are fine and meet OEM specifications. I agree with Bob that they appear somewhat cheap. I have used their stuff before without issue. |

I have used their stuff. It never seems quite as good as OEM to me, but I will still sometimes use them. However, I never use them for rubber type parts. I just find that the OEM is much better for those. |

Just me, but I would look elsewhere if your trying you are trying to save money. I like to buy from people who have knowledge and experience. People who you can trust to give the right answer. For us it was Sim's Yamaha. They warrantied an item for us just based on my serial number on an internet order. If anything goes wrong I would be glad I was using OEM parts if a warranty was involved.

Thanks for the input.
It's pretty much follows what I was thinking. I'll probably use their filters. I've found Browne's out of NJ to be reasonably priced and have all the parts needed for Suzuki OB. They are fast and reliable too.
Thanks again. Be safe out there. |
