August 4, 2012 : Melanie Cove, BC

We were anchored in Melanie Cove. There were 64 other boats there as well. The weather was Perfect. Warm. Clear. Calm.

It was one of those memorable evenings at anchor that you just wish would never, ever end.

Just as the sun was about to set, music began to come from one of the yachts at anchor - we couldn't tell which one, but it seemed to come from everywhere. The music was powerful, haunting, majestic, and Wonderful. As I recall, it was classical, but hot heavy classical. It wasn't martial, but it could have been an anthem.

I suppose the piece played for less than three minutes, and when it was finished the entire anchorage erupted in respectful applause ... no cheering, no shouting, just quiet appreciation for a magical sunset experience.

We had the immediate sensation we had witnessed something Very special to our Canadian brothers and sisters. ...was it an on-the-water custom; or, were we just Very Lucky?

Any thoughts?

Best,
Casey&Mary

Sounds like magic. Sometimes that is what it takes to make a perfect, everlasting memory.

What a privilege to get to be there.
