Has anyone installed the Raymarine EV-200 autopilot on a 25 Cruiser and networked it to a Raymarine C80 chart plotter with radar. Feedback is welcome. A number of questions come to mind:

1. Is the EV-200 the right unit for the 25 Cruiser?
2. Will the "EV Sensor Core" become a de facto fluxgate compass?
3. And, to get way down in the weeds, if the new sensor core becomes a de facto compass will I be able to update my Raymarine software to the latest version and still have radar overlay on my charts. (I'm currently running an older version that does require a fluxgate.)

I have an Raymarine ST-6001 autopilot on Journey On. Enjoyed it for the last 9 years. So I vote for hydraulic, even though installing it is more difficult, as opposed to a mechanical wheel drive. Other opinions WILL vary.

So, depending on your drive desires, either the EV-100 or EV-200 seems suitable. An autopilot is a great thing.

That EV-1 sensor is neat, once you get past the 9 axis name, since we live in a 3 axis world. It's (apparently) a 3 axis flux gate/rate gyro/accelerometer in one package. And it outputs those data on Seatalk2, which, also apparently, is compatible with NMEA 2000. And if the C80 can deal with Seatalk2, you're home free connection wise.

As to the details, for goodness sake, call Raymarine customer service at 800-539-5539 or 603-881-5200. Trying to outguess Raymarine would be futile and dangerous.

Excellent. Thanks for the feedback.

BTW, I tried the Raymarine 800 number and it was answered by "Bray & Scarff Appliance Repair Service." I have a message into the tech support number.

Well, that 800 number was for a few years back. That's why I included the other. thanks for the update.

Please let us know what you found out. That EV-100 seem like a great autopilot. also the EV-1 thinge delivers 3 states around 3 axis. Since a boat only navigates in 2 axis, I wonder if they also plan to use it some aircraft application.

When I worked on gyros, they spun and were really delicate. This solid state stuff is great. Gyros made of glass, a compass without a needle and silicon accelerometers.

We put the EV-200 in our boat and the E97. I do remember that Les was going to go with the EV-100, but then had to use the 200. Might have been pump size. You might give him a call or send an email. Our use has been limited over the winter, but so far it has been great.
