Does anybody know if you can get to Crescent Lake from St. Johns River via Dunns Creek? It's by Rat Island on the south side of San Mateo.

Thanks!
John

yes you can. Go south from St. Mateo to marker 16 (green), turn left 9 (East) soon you'll see a fork, and stay on the left of the waterway. There are a number of 3ft spots, as well as sunken logs in the water, but if you go slow and keep a sharp eye ahead, you get to Crescent City.
Enjoy

There is a waterfront restaurant in Crescent city called 3 Bananas with a dock you can use. Also two public ramps you can use if you want to explore the town. One just North of 3 Bananas and the other just South. There is a grocery store about 1/2 mile North of the ramp.

We just returned from a month on the St. Johns. We went to the end of just about every thing. Take Dunn's Creek to Crescent Lake. Three Bananas is a fun place. You can go to the end of the lake and into Dead lake. At the end of Dead Lake is Bull Creek Marina and Campground. There is ice, showers and a barbecue restaurant under construction. Probably won't be open for a while. Watch the drinking water there. There is salt water intrusion into the well there. The water is undrinkable. There is a RO tap that serves the bait shop and ice machine. You can go past the old steamboat dock pilings and venture up Bull Creek a half mile or so. Very pretty. We found no obstructions in Dunn's Creek, other than a couple obvious snags. There are lots of shallow areas near the shores of Crescent Lake.

Thanks Guys. Went to 3 Bananas on the MC the other day and thought bit might make for nice destination by water. Can you put in at Bull Creek Campground? Never mind, I'll Google it.
