Ann & I just returned from an Oregon Pipers Society compitition. The guest band was from Seattle, called the Keith Highlanders. Featured on the snare drum was our own Tim Flannigan of Two Lucky Fish(+1).
Good job Tim !!!!!

Sorry, but they are a somber sound. I know it's because I have been to too many LE funerals and whenever I hear pipes...that's all I recall.

Bagpipes! Really! I'm teasing guys. Its just going to be Tim, master of the snare drums, Right Tim!! Seriously, Jim Bathhurst has generously provided the FH gathering professional level entertainment the last two years but will not be able to do it this year.

Tim plays the snare, Ann plays the tenner drum. All we need is a bag pipper. Maybe Pat will fill in with his flute.
A few years ago, we pulled into Friday Hbr, late in the afternoon. Someone on shore was playing the bagpipes. We couldn't see where it was coming from, but it was a great welcome into the marina.

Yes, the pipes can be somber, emotional, and very moving...but they can also be upbeat, inspiring, and fun. It just depends on the tune.

That's why I love them.

Check out the band "Gaelic Storm" to hear bag pipes that aren't so somber!

Or try "Off Kilter", I believe they are residents in Orlando Disney World. They are really "not somber"

If you love Celtic music, BFB is a must see. No offense, but they are a totally different class of talent than Gaelic Storm (just about the only Celtic band I don't like). Donna and I are traditional Celtic music fanatics and we've been fortunate to see a ton of great artists over the years. These guys are top notch.

Hey Rick. That is really cool.

So if you want another 30 minutes of fame, come over to Friday Harbor and pipe in the C-Dory Fleet in May. That would be

REALLY COOL ! ! !
