Well, after much deliberation I have decided to open up shop. I just thought I would share my first build with my C-Brat family. I hope you enjoy viewing my first official build! I'll be posting on this thread and FB. Comments, suggestions or visits are always welcome! Thumbs Up

On my bucket list. Build a really nice wooden boat. Probably won't happen because I'm busy playing with old aluminum boats, my C-dory and antique trucks.

Nothing moves through the water or feels as good as wood, rowed, sailed, or powered.

Good luck on your endeavor.

Bshillam,

I built a 20 ft 4 in IB Bartender from a frame kit for a 19, by inserting another frame midships, and fairing the frames, about the only way to achieve that length at the time (2006). The 20.5 ft Bartender design you are starting on is a big improvement on what i built. I think you will be very pleased with it. Bill Childs is just finishing a 19 ft runabout Bartender, pictures on the BT Facebook page. Wish I were as talented and clean a builder as Bill.

Have fun with it. They are great boats, and extremely well suited for rough water. We loved ours, now owned by a fellow in Portland. Keep us posted with reminders of your progress!

Congratulations! I always admire wooden boat builders. It is truly an art form. Lots of hard work--and satisfaction. Good luck with the endeavor, and we all will love to see photos of the first major build!

Bar Tenders, cool boats, and a PNW tradition. Enjoy, and keep sharing here. Thanks.

It just keeps getting more and more interesting. Each individual member of the framing will be sanded prior to assembly. Thumbs Up Wink

Congratulations on the new shop. I built a stitch and glue kayak on a whim. I was soon made aware of the skill and labor needed to build any
thing that is intended to float, move through water with efficiency and grace and be a piece of art all at once. Pales in comparison to the work you are undertaking. As an aside, your subject line included a mention of your logo. As a graphic artist of some 40 years I would be interested to see your logo.
Good luck
Chris

It's been awhile since I last posted, sorry things have been busy. New website for the business,
www.pnwboatworks.com
also still looking for a logo/graphic designer for something very simple.

What a great morning, check out the Sheer. I was surprised to see the oak take the bend without steaming. I used a new clamp that also has a reverse feature to bring the oak to the frame. It worked out wonderfully as you can see.

Byrick,

We met at the 2005 Great Eastern Shore CBGT. We borrowed Tom Callahan's CD22 Otter to cruise the Chesapeake! Where is your shop located in Bellingham? We live in Birch Bay (Blaine), and would love to stop by!

Pat
