The cockpit side of the door in my 1996 22' has gotten some mildew on it from sitting all winter covered. Anyone have a miracle cure to remove the mildew. I had some fiberglass cleaner sitting nearby and tried that but it didn't phase it. Somewhat afraid to try a clorox solution.

What material was used to construct the door on that model year? If it is made of white starboard, then softscrub with bleach works great. If it's one of the older style (with the vinyl like woodgrain), I'm not sure what to recommend but others will know.

Any product you use requires a certain amount of contact time that is the time the item being treated remains wet with the disinfectant (cleaning agent) to be effective. This should be on the product insert or instructions for use and might require multiple treatments and elbow grease.

You need to be careful using bleach. It can damage fabrics and dont mix bleach with ammonia.

The miracle cure for us is Mr. Clean magic erasers. They really do seem to work magic getting the dirt and grime out of that textured starboard with minimal effort. I use them all over the interior surfaces of the boat as well.

On my boat it is, I believe, the starboard material. It isn't the vinyl. I will try the simple green first and see what happens. Never have tried the magic erasers, but that will be next, if necessary, thanks.
