Mark, I'll be giving two free talks during the boat show about cruising on my C-Dory 22. The first is on Tuesday 1/24 at 4:00pm about circumnavigating Vancouver Island. The second is on Thursday 1/26 at 1:15pm about cruising to Alaska. I'll also be working in the Waggoner Cruising Guide booth most of the show. If you have any prospects who doubt the capability of these boats, feel free to send them my way! _________________ My boating blog...http://samlandsman.blogspot.com/ |

Foggy,
Thanks for sharing your boat. I've been looking forward to seeing one of these for a long time. I have one of the originals and sincerely believe you have the finest pocket cruiser ever made. The build quality of the new C-dorys is the best yet. Enjoy and thanks again for sharing. |

I like that: "pocket cruiser".
In my romping days, years ago, I had what was then called a "pocket rocket": (AKA Donzi 22' 2+3, 454 cu in I/O). With this rig, I learned what "apparent wind" was all about. After a few bugs in the face at 60+ mph, I decided to get into sailing.
As they say, "Speed changes you."

Mark,
Thanks for the announcement. Great to hear you will be there, and the C-Dory family will be represented. Might be worth the time to set up a poster or two, directing folks to Sam's talk, and a mention of the C-Brats someplace.
I went out today, 4 hours and had 2 folks at the fuel station stop to look, admire and talk C-Dory, and 3 in the marina at the launch site. Also got a hail on the radio from a sailboat for some info and a second look.
They are eye catchers.
Wish you a great response at the show.
Harvey

Caryn and I went to the boat show yesterday. As mentioned in another post, the C-Dory was tucked away in a corner of the East Hall. No matter, I'm just happy there was a C-Dory at the show. Had a chance to meet and chat with Mark and Ryan (?). They were very impressed with my C-Dory salesmanship skills! Had the pleasure of running into Sam Landsman as well.
Foggy's 26 Venture is a very nice boat and looks well-built. If I were looking at moving to a bigger boat, that model might be my choice. I realize everyone has their own sense of style but I thought it was curious that the stripe at the bow was not the traditional C-Dory stripe with the indentation but instead was solid all the way around the bow. Kind of looked like a Sea Sport from the front. Certainly not a criticism Foggy but just an observation. She's a beautiful boat.
Pics to follow.

The solid cove stripe around the bow was news to me as well. It was not custom, ordered, expected or invoiced ($). I have no objection to it, seeing it the first time in a factory sent photo last month. See it in the Album "WB Nod", our first attempt boat name, now changed.

That's the way the original Venture (built by Cape Cruiser) was made. (I believe it was as part of the failed attempt to distinguish it from the C-Dory. But that's another story.) As far as I know, all subsequent builders have continued that style.

I don't think so. Until last year when Wayport Boats got involved, the C-dory manufactured boats (including the Ventures) had the more traditional strip. Last year the Wayport boat ordered C-Dories had the full stripe. I believe that was intended to distinguish the Wayport ordered C-Dory's from other boats (at least that's what I gathered last year at the boat show). _________________ Roger on Meant to be |

I surprise myself how much these "little " things do matter to me. I think a C-Dory should have the traditional accent stripe. If it were my boat being built I would insist on the traditional stripe. There, I said it.

What Marty Said
That one is going to look like a Sea Sport, bow on, from a mile away.
