Well I finally made it to the boat show today - were is everyone ? Did I get my weekends mixed up again. ... ohhh man.
Anyways - I stopped by to get my Waggoner and have Bob Hale sign it. At home looking through it and there on page 152, upper left corner under the picture " A group cruise of about a dozen C-Dory boats anchored in Montague Harbour and went up to the Hummingbird Pub for supper."
I cant see a name on the boat - someone want to identify the guilty parties in the photo?
Cheers,
Tom |

Oh yeah, I noticed that too! I wasn't at that one. Who is that? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?
I got to talk with Bob and Marilynn at length the other day. I'd never met them before. Gosh, they're good folks. Bob was really pleased with my review of the book from last summer. I got the feeling it wasn't just that I said nice things. He seemed genuinely pleased that I had "cracked the code", as he put it, about what makes Waggoner work. _________________ Timothy R. R. One other shortcoming, the one that would make Waggoner THE guide instead of one of several - the absence of lat/lon coordinates for each entry (entrances, anchorages, etc.). The Hemingway / Douglass Exploring... guides have this. I know that Weatherly Press also publishes the Waypoint Guide or whatever they call it, but integrating lat/lon coordinates into Waggoner would more than double its value to me...I emailed Bob Hale about this, got a polite response "Thanks for your suggestion"... _________________

Took a look at the photo on page 152, the people in the dinghy unquestionably are Terry and Ann (Anne?) from Rock-C, the boat as best as I can tell is Cast Away (Jim and Jan). Is there a prize for this contest? |

I suspect that the inclusion in Waggoner of geo coordinates (lat/long) would likely entail the additional disclaimers of their accuracy etc etc. Waggoners is a worthy recreational publication however for a more serious authoritative official publication I prefer to use "Sailing Directions" British Columbia Coast (South Portion) - which uses geo coordinates. In my opinion serious boaters in BC waters should have a copy of this publication aboard. I also use Waggoners. |

Where can you get the current Sailing Directions? I looked on Amazon and it looks like they only have some old ones. Or is that all there is available? _________________ Doryman

Right here looks like a likely candidate...

I went to SBS yesterday, and got my 2014 Waggoner Guide from Sam Landsman. I hadn't bought one in 7 years. This edition is vastly improved, most of which has come from Sam's documentation over last two years. _________________

Speaking of Sam............ and Waggoner's...
He is going to be speaking at the Snoqualmie Brewery mini-CBGT Friday. Just wondering if he will have some of the new Waggoner's there? Great to hear the C-Dory family is represented.
