We are now making a new revised revised plan due to the crazy weather and the threat of thunderstorms today (Sunday). We will now be leaving early Monday morning from the Channel Islands Marina to Two Harbors. See you all over there Monday afternoon.

Ditto Marcia Jane. After hearing about the predicted threats, we decided to finally visit the Iowa in it's new LA Harbor home. Majestic ship!

We'll leave from Peter's Landing in Huntington Harbour in the morning.

See you there!

Given the sporadic ran and the fact I have no space in the V-bert to sleep with the dingy shoved in there, I'll get a last nigh of sleep in my bed and go to the marina around 5:30 AM to launch. After washing the trailer, I'll see who needs waking up and has something good cooking for breakfast. The forecast predicts monsoonal rain all night tonight all the way to Catalina. Hopefully it'll blow over by Monday morning but the problem will be the blow over part... rain is usually followed by gusty wind. For that reason, I want to get going early Monday morning unless it's pouring rain. If it is, I'll stay in bed until it stops. Sprinkles won't make me hit the snooze button, just steady rain.

I feel exhausted getting C-Pup ready. You guys must have a greater fatigue factor from driving much further to your launch point, then cruising to the Isthmus, getting tied onto the string line, inflating the dingy and wrestling with the dingy outboard, etc. Do any of you feel it wise to delay the beach party until Tuesday evening? The corn will still be sweet. I think we'll all benefit from a good night's rest Monday. Then we'd feel alive again on Tuesday and in a party mood. Just asking...

Far C'r was hoping to be able to join the group either thurs or fri but I am still suffering from the aftereffects of my Diverticulitis and a bumpy boat ride would turn into something I wouldn't care to contemplate. I was hoping to say hello to our friends from the Delta trip and to meet some new ones. We will definitely be here next year.

Anyone that is in the South Bay area and would like to plan some trips to Catalina in the future we would definitely be interested.

We had to leave a day early....but what a trip... first was paying for gas at Catalina....$7.39 ...only took just enough for a safe trip home...15 gal.

On the ride home we saw dozens of porpoise and a large whale...we pulled alongside the whale and had a neat show while the blew several times and swam to our stern before changing direction... what an amazing being...

We stashed the boat and drove to Reno where we are now and will stay for a week or two... the poor dogs are so worn out from traveling that they haven't moved out of their beds yet.

Thanks Guys for such a wonderful time...

Joel and Susan.

We had another great trip to Catalina with friends. The start was questionable with the storm coming through on Sunday. The trip home today was great with smooth seas the whole way.

I just wanted to say thanks to all again for a wonderful Catalina trip. We left Friday morning on the Happy Hut after coffee and a perfect morning. We saw a whale n porpoises too, along with a coast guard helicopter up near MDR (fortunately not for us).

I'm still having the drop to idle issue with my Etec 90 but it is a minor annoyance compared to the nice trip back.

A true thanks to everyone on the trip and we hope to see you again soon!

Kath and I want to thank everyone who came this year. We had a fantastic time and as always, the time went all too fast.

We got back to the Channel Islands Harbor in about 4 1/2 hours on Saturday morning. It was an amazing crossing as the seas were almost perfectly smooth the entire uphill seas and wind trip.

For next year we encourage those who are interested to launch from the new Channel Islands Marina launch ramp. It is a beautiful facility that just opened up in June of this year (2014). There is alot of long term parking available and there is also a new wash down facility. One can also guest dock there overnight. There are many excellent eating venues in the area. Finally this new launch ramp option saves driving to downtown L.A. and risking property damage at MDR.

Hopefully we will see many of you again next year!

Best,
Jim and Kath

PS - We already miss "Island Time"

I too had a wonderful trip, thanks to everyone and their hospitality as well. I had a great first mate, Chris, 11 yrs old. So glad Sealife Mike brought his 12 yr old grandson, really made his time enjoyable. This trip I'll rate as one of my top 3 C-Dory trips to Catalina. Hard to quantify, but between the perfect weather, nice relaxing activities with wonderful C-Dory friends, outstanding fishing and SCUBA diving -- it's in there somewhere.

I was so jazzed to don my SCUBA gear after nearly 4 yrs (maybe more) that I'm craving to do more. Maybe next year others will bring their gear, I plan to.

Thanks again Jim and Kathy for hosting the event and keeping everyone motivated to get out of bed and enjoy the environment and activities at hand. You both really have this hosting part down to a science!

Sealife left Two Harbors on Thursday morning at about 6:30am and arrived at Channel Islands Harbor at 11:00. Smooth sailing the whole way. Contrary to the norm, it got flatter the closer we got to home. A little black and blue from a single handed try at picking up the mooring, but I slept each night like a baby, gently rocking up & down. My grandson, Jake had a ball. Many thanks to Steve for taking him fishing one day. He is totally hooked on fishing.

It's gratifying to know that so many others came to the same decision as I did about delaying departure for the island until Monday because of the threat of thunder storm, and particularly lightning. As it worked out, Monday dawned clear and calm. Great trip.....great friends, as usual. Best boat!
