Anyone have any interest in the C-Brats participating in the May 17 Life Jacket World Record Day event.

http://www.readysetwearit.com/

West Marine is a participating sponsor but there is not an event listed at Friday Harbor. This amounts to everybody show up at a common time, get a group picture and submit it. The record is an aggregate of all the participating groups, not just our group.

BTW, I noticed in the May issue of SEA magazine that there is a May 16 - 18 rendezvous for Grady White's too. Has to do with a ling cod derby.( nwgwc.org )

Hi Tom,
I could not see the links. How expensive is it for canucks to buy a 1 day license? It looks like it is not easy to do on line...

Mike, a non-resident "combo" license (e.g. salt, shjellfish and freshwater) is $20.15 for 1 day, $28.95 for 2-days and $35.55 for 3 days. An annual non-resident saltwater license is $59.75 and an annual non-resident "combo" is $123.55.

So I just checked the chart and currents. My favorite spot is going to be good from 12 to 3. I want to catch bait first so I will be leaving around 11 to head to Jones Island. Get bait there and then hit a spot near by. I am open to looking at maps on friday night. I will also try to get a list of spots that look good that I have not fished yet.

tide and current site

I use this link. Just find the current mark close to where you want to fish and see what time the current dip's below 1 mph. Then fish until it hits 1 mph again. Below .5 mph is best for ling or halibut. Fishing to much current was my biggest mistake in the past. [/url]

Tom, That is a cool site. How long have you been using it? Pretty accurate? I like the usability. Easy and graphic.

We just signed up. Our schedule is tight, but we expect to be there in our new to us 2006 C-Dory 25. We look forward to seeing our friends from previous Lake Powell and Catalina Island trips and meeting new friends.

OK, we're just 9 days away from the Friday Harbor gathering and it is time for me to post the "what's going on" info. As usual Friday Harbor is very supportive and giving us a great deal. We have about 50 boats expected and have the following moorage set aside for us: All of the inside of "H" dock, "G" dock spaces 1-20, 22-24-26, and the inside of the breakwater. Don't call ahead for reservations, you will just confuse things. When you arrive just let them know you are with the C-Dory group and pick any open slip from the above list. You really don't even need to contact the marina, just come in and register after mooring. Mooring fees are 70 cents/foot, power is 10 cents/ foot. What a deal! Free WiFi is available, be sure you ask for it at the office and get the code. It can be a little tricky to connect but it works. C-Cakes will be heading over from Cornet Bay around 4ish on Thursday the 15th. Anyone wanting to form an Armada just meet us there. There is a minus 2.4' tide at 1pm on Friday the 16th so be sure to check tides where you plan to launch. I'd say Cornet Bay would be pretty low from about 10am-4pm. The Friday dinner is at 5:30pm. Remember, sadly Downrigger's restaurant burned to the ground last year. Debbie from Downrigger's is still in business though and will be catering our dinner at the Grange Hall. The hall is just up the stairs from the marina and to the right of the American Legion Hall. Dinner is BYOB. Debbie has been good to us for years and I really hope we will have a good crowd for dinner. Let's show our support. As usual, West Marine is hosting us at 10AM on Saturday with donuts, coffee and a 10% discount. Saturday afternoon the USCG Auxilliary will be on our docks to do vessel safety checks (I've retired from the USCGAux and can't do them any more). Check your flare expiration dates! I have invited the USCGAux folks doing the safety checks to join us for the potluck. As of right now I have two christenings scheduled, Ari and C-View II. Please let me know ASAP if anyone else wants their boat christened. I expect to do them after the potluck on Saturday. As for the potluck, lets plan to begin around 5:30 on Saturday. The port will have the little party barge for us on Saturday afternoon (a Grady White rendezvous is using it in the AM) and is providing us at least four tables to put stuff on. As usual, ours is a true potluck. The factory has assured me they will be there on Saturday so maybe we can get a little first hand information. Don't forget to bring your nametags! We will have a few blank ones for those wanting tags who don't have them. I am beginning the anti-rain dance today!! Laughing

Looking forward to this gathering. 50 boats, WOW!

Since we are now mooring our boat in Edmonds, I'm thinking about launching out of Bellingham on Thursday. Probably will spend night in BHam unless we get there earlier than expected.

Is anyone else planning to cross over from BHam for the gathering? Just curious.
