EASY! If I could afford it I'd be on it like white on rice! This boat will clean up nice with the addition of an opening center front window. The motor is a gamble but I bet it would run with some lovin from a Suzuki guy.

TOTALLY agree. If the price stays low enough, I'll be driving to NC next week. Outside of the unlikely/fixable wet balsa, there is nothing to our CD22 - simple and easy.

The motor certainly is a concern, but I'm a closet motorhead so bring it on.

I'm guessing it'll end above my willing to pay level, but if not I have plenty of time and a F150 full of gas...

Really, maybe we should all buy that boat for Chris. But to make it a sufficient challenge for him, we'll need to roll it over on the freeway on the way home or tow it under a really low bridge.

Boat Angel Ministries are well known, and the boat is listed on their E-bay group of boats currently for sale. As with E bay sale, I would want to use due diligence--but I think this is legit--and at the current price of 10K is quite a buy.

The E-bay site says Colorado Registration, but there are NC numbers. So no telling where the boat is. Transport cost--could be as much as $4,000 or so if it has to be shipped on a flat bed trailer. It may be less. If you win the boat you would have to get bids on shipping.

The boat is in Bolivia, NC according to the listing. So you would have to figure on shipping from that point. It's just 30 miles from Wilmington, NC.

$10k is beyond my 'fun' money range for a project like this, but I have no doubt that the boat is worth it.

I kind of wonder. I mean, I know that on one level, to a specific kind of person, it would make a worthy project (someone who has plenty of time that doesn't have to be "worth the dollar amount," who has tools, who is handy, and who perhaps has engine or a spare trailer, etc.) And it's obviously a good design.

But on a larger "level" and counting time/stuff.... I'm not so sure it is worth over $10,000. Just adding up engine, trailer, buffing job or maybe paint if the gelcoat is too far gone, possible core work, upholstery, possible kicker, canvas - plus all the other boating gear that often comes with a boat - and I'm coming up quite a bit higher than many good/older/used C-Dory's are going for. And that's not even counting one's time.

True, if you bought a new trailer, new engine, new canvas, etc. you would have all new things, not the 15-year-old ones that might come on a "reasonably priced" older/decent boat, but....

I'm sure that someone could buy it and make it a fabulous boat again, so I don't mean to doubt that, but just not totally sure it's "worth" it in an objective way (if that makes sense). I would be doing the math even if it were free. But then everyone is different. And some people love to take on a project (it is satisfying).

Will be interesting to see what happens, and I hope the new owner is either already a Brat or comes to join us. Sure would be nice to see it seaworthy again.

Are we all looking at the same boat? We have "fun project" to "hell hole" all from the same pictures Rolling Eyes

I see a boat and trailer that need a good cleaning and wax job. Wiring harness and new interior coverings. Other then that it looks great. Might need a new motor but I doubt it. And any cdory could have some wet core but most don't. that being said $1ok is a great price and 15 is ok. has anyone seen a running 22 for under 20k this year?

Maybe I was being too hard on it. And plus, since the bids are up over $10k, then that is the definition of "worth it" (i.e. what someone is willing to pay for something on the open market).

Anyway, sorry if I sounded too negative - I wondered whether I should post my last comment. Probably bought one or two too many project boats and that influenced me Wink

Just watched the auction close. Bid was at 10,100 with 2 mins to go. Jumped to 11,700 in the last 10-20s. Strange bidding since one could have gone to 10,200 and probably have gotten it.

Winning bid: US $11,700.00 [ 45 bids ]

A lot of the strategy in ebay bidding is to bid at the last second to avoid over-bidding/over-priceing an item.

$11,700 was winning bid. I thought long and hard about possibly bidding on her. Sat down and started writing a list on what I could see needed done and decided to let someone else have the fun.

I think somebody had an automatic bid in place up to $11,600, so whoever was trying to bid at the last minute had to bid up to the auto-bid.

That was fun to watch, I hope BRAZO got it! I think at $11,700 it is a great deal. This is the kind of project C-dory that makes alot of sense. It had enough grime to make alot of potential bidders uneasy, but doesnt look like it needs very much. That motor may even be a runner with new wiring.
