I would like to cover the top of the transom of my 1989 CD22. I have seen black vinyl/rubber trim pieces (continuous strip along top of transom) on various CD's but unsure if they were factory installed or after-market.
Would like to know where to purchase this.
I saved this boat from the trash heap 5 years ago and would like to keep it going. It is a little gem that we have trailered to many places from the Gulf of Maine, along the east coast all the way to FL.
What a great adventure!

On later boats the builder did install the black transom cap. I believe it is something like PVC plastic. From what I read it came as a flat piece and was shaped with a heat gun to make the curves, and then attached to the boat with methacrylate (glue).

Perhaps C-Dory would give more info on what plastic product they use; but otherwise you might try McMaster-Carr (www.mcmaster.com) as they sell many "raw" products and one can usually order small amounts.

3M and others make methacrylate glue (two-part product that you dispense and mix, then use).

I think that the cap is a vinyl. Check with your local plastic supplier/fabricator--take some photos of the transom, and ones which have been repaired.

When we rebuilt the transom on the C Dory 25, we used 5200 to "glue it back down" that worked very well.

Thanks guys for your input. It is helpful. We have been busy putting away boats for the winter and I will look into getting a new transom cap this winter.
