Since picking up my new boat last month, I have had nothing but problems with one of my new engines. I find that trying to deal with Suzuki warranty stations and Suzuki Costumer service to be unacceptable. Hopefully I will not waste much more time and money trying to get my engine fixed.

Scott,

I'm sorry to hear about all the problems you've been having with customer service and the warranty department. Unfortunately, I've read complaints about Suzuki customer service on the c-dog site as well.

However, I can say that I've had no problems whatsoever with my Suzuki DF-70 since taking delivery in March and I'm a happy camper so far. I guess I should cross my fingers and hope no service or warranty issues come up in the future.

Scott

I continue to have trouble with my port engine as well---- it's a Honda.
It has always ran rough and now it seems to have a drinking problem--- it is back in the shop to see why the oil is so low. They had to grind the valves last time in the shop. Of course, now it is beyond warrenty by two weeks Shocked

Hospital Hole (formerly called "Fish Hospital) on the Weeki Wachee River, Hernando County, Fl. There's a sulfide layer about 50 feet down the fish dip themselves in to kill what ails them (their version of a sulfa drug). It is loaded with fish anytime of year but especially in winter. 150 ft. deep hole, the river so shallow you rarely see more than a kayak or my C-Dory in the upper reaches.

I noticed Mister Black Motor Man changed the picture he had in his message from CDT14.jpg to CDT17.jpg. Had you looked closely at the first picture, you would have seen the dreaded Mercury Monster, also know as the Brunswick Bloodsucker, attacking his vessel. Nobody really knows why they choose to attack boats sporting Mercs, but some biologists suspect it is the color of the motor. Perhaps that could be a contributing factor to the recent spate of Suzuki troubles?? You won't find those critters hanging on Honda boats. Even if they can catch 'em, they can't survive the hole shot.

Oops! Forgot to mention one more thing you won't see on the upper Weeki Wachee -- a Honda (won't trim high enough). Sometimes not running with the herd has its rewards . . .

I have an appointment at a different warranty repair station on June 21. Hopefully they have there act together compared to the other one that I have taken my boat to twice. I called Suzuki directly, and they are worthless

Well,
After a month and a half of trying to get a Suzuki warranty repair station to look at my NEW port engine, I finally got word today that it has a bad lower unit. Now the waiting game begins to see how long it will take for the part and installation. Almost 2 months of boating wasted with a new boat. Suzuki warranty repair stations and their customer service is the pits. This will be the last time I purchase a Suzuki product.

I have nothing but good things to say about my new Suzuki 90 4 stroke. I love it, but then again I haven;t had any problems at all.

Still waiting for the Suzuki Technical Service Manager for california to ok the new lower unit. Might happen sometime this year, if he ever returns the calls from the warranty repair station asking for approval. But since the repair station is closing for vacation for a week, this nightmare will just drag on. So it will be at least 2 months with an unusable new boat. I would have been better off driving back up to the factory and letting them deal with the bad Suzuki engine they sold me. Suzuki refuses to give me phone numberss I need to get this expedited. They have a crappy attitude at customer service and are of no help. Unless you are familiar with your Suzuki repair station, I highly recommend that any prospective C-Dory owners think twice about purchasing Suzuki engines.

Scott,

I really feel for you. It must be incredibly frustrating. When you say,
Quote:

does this mean you've tried to go up the corporate ladder? Have you tried going to the top? Perhaps a letter to the president of Suzuki Marine would open someone's eyes to this. I'm sure you've tried everything but it seems so unbelievable that a company such as Suzuki would be so unwilling to satisfy you, the customer. Especially with the potential public relations damage resulting from this kind of situation. I work in the hospitality business and I know how damaging negative publicity can be. Customers have other choices and if they feel that they are not treated fairly and with compassion, they will choose the others, namely Honda, Yamaha, Evinrude, Johnson, Mercury et al.

It makes me thankful that my Suzuki 70 has worked like a charm since we took delivery in March. But it also makes me hope I don't have any warranty problems in the future because I sure wouldn't want to go through what you're going through.

After seeing your other post, about lemon laws, I would agree that this particular engine is indeed a lemon. I see it as an unfortunate aberration rather than the norm. I know many C-Dory owners have Suzuki's and haven't experienced the same problems you have, fortunately. I'm hoping that this all works out for you as quickly as possible so that you can enjoy your C-Dory the way you envisioned. Keep us informed and hang in there. One day soon, you'll be sipping a cold one on a beautiful day in SoCal and this nightmare will become just a distant memory.
