In early October thinking of cruising the Potomac to spend a few days in DC doing the "tourist thing". Thought of launching at Smallwood State Park but that would permit just a short cruise on the Potomac- anyone have any ideas where I could launch (at a place I could leave my truck and trailer) and enjoy a cruise on the Potomac on my way to DC?
Also any spots on the Eastern Shore that I could launch from across from the Potomac?
Thanks

Crisfield, MD is on the eastern shore directly across from the mouth of the Potomac. Not sure of launch ramps/storage but with a lot of boats there, there must be some.
Try this link. http://www.cityofcrisfield-md.gov/

Made four Chesapeake crossings in the last two weeks and they can be slow and uncomfortable in our 25 depending on the sea state. Even turned around and anchored for a while till it settled down last Thursday (Due to a squall line).
If it's the Potomac you want to see (an excellent choice) may I recommend a Southern MD launch point. Here's a local govt web site with some info:

I have a place on the Wicomico River but may not be there much in Aug. otherwise, pm me for more info if you like.

Harbor View Marina, just south of Colonial Beach. Pay the launch fee and you can park your truck and trailer along the adjacent road for free. _________________ 2003 CD22 Cruiser with Honda 90 |
