On Monday we left Wisconsin and after a 36 hour drive we launched the CD22 in Blaine Harbor Wednesday evening. Thanks for all the information from fellow brats as Blaine worked out great - easy launch, sleepy marina, nice little town. Blaine will be where we store the boat for the next few years.

Yesterday we made our way from Blaine, cleared customs in White Rock (took minutes on the phone), then made our way to Vancouver. About a 45nm ride in bumpy but not bad conditions. The Straits of Georgia seemed similar to the Bay of Green Bay (not including the amazing view, just the body of water). We cruised around 20 knots just to get there seeing it was our first time out in this area. We did see one dolphin on the way but my priority was to just get to Vancouver.

Coming into Vancouver was amazing. Just a few weeks ago we stayed across the Hudson from New York City and the view of Vancouver was just as spectacular. We are now in a marina for a few days visiting with our son before we head to the Gulf Islands.

Here is a tracking map of our summer travels (Winnebago View and now CD22).

www.spotwalla.com/tripViewer.php?id=6e9d51b4b532c0354 - we are using an app called BubblerGPS along with Spotwalla to provide our families a 'ride along'. If you select 2 months history, it'll show all our summer travels.

Thanks again for all the information from the c-brats over the last few months.

Wow, you have really been making track! Loved the Spotwella--I asume that this is not directly corrected to spot?

Did you tow the C Dory behind the RV, and then lanuch on the first trip--or maybe I should say, the part where you were in the NE.

Great adventure--look forward to some more tales!

Robert
WELCOME TO BLAINE!
I live in White Rock but also keep my boat in Blaine. I keep mine at Blaine Marine Services. It only costs me $50 per month on the trailer and for that I can keep it inside the locked compound or just outside the fence for easier access. They are great people.

My boat is one of the old classics. Not very fancy but it is safe and we have a lot of fun with it. You will see it every time you launch. It is called "popeye"

We launched on Thurs and headed over to Mayne Island. It was very rough in the Strait blowing 15 to 19 kts. The boat did well I just went slow and let it do its thing. We have access to a cabin there and anchor in front.

Maybe some time I can meet you in Blaine. In the meantime enjoy the PNW.

From friends nearby
David and Val

Hi Bob,

We use BubblerGPS app on our android phone which then sends the data to Spotwalla when we have internet access. If we are in the US then it updates Spotwalla every 10 minutes otherwise in Canada (we don't have internet access) it stores the data then uploads on wifi. Works great and its free.

No, the View will tow 3500 and when I took the CD22 to get weighed it was 5000. We have a newer F150 that we used. I would much rather have the motorhome to tow, but still worked great pulling into truck stops for the night. Next year we'll drive the motorhome and use that to launch the boat (about 5 miles from storage to launch).

Have a nice day.

Robert

Hi David and Val,

Yes, we did see the Cdory by the boat launch and then gone the next day. Have a great trip and hope to meet you at some point.

Having a great time in the Gulf Islands. Slowly made our way down to Victoria where our son will meet us tonight via ferry from Vancouver. Love the sea life and the mountains. On the way into Victoria today we got to see our first whale.

Keep notes Robert. I'll have to talk to you some time about cruising the San Juans. I keep thinking about towing Midnight Flyer out there next summer. Don't know if it will really happen, but I keep thinking! Wink Colby P.s. Have a safe trip back home.
