I have a 2004 Johnson 90 and am almost at the 100hr mark. The small owners manual lists quit a few things to be done at this time. Some seem to me to be more for dealers to make money than for engine life.

One of the things I question is de-carbonizing. Why would the motor need this after 100hrs? Is this the same for Hondas?

What maintenance do others do every 100 hrs?

Thanks,
Steve

Seabran,
There was some discussion a while back about using additives and decarbonizing. Do a search with "decarbonizing". I have 40hp Hondas and my owners manuals do not have any references to decarbonizing. My Honda calls for checking carb linkage, idle speed, spark plugs and fuel filter at 100 hours. At 200 hours it also calls for checking the timing belt, valve clearance, and thermostat. Of course this is in addition to the normal oil changes, filters etc.
