|
|
Looking for a high cool place to cruise this summer? How about a cruise through one of the largest volcanos on earth? Eruptions from this volcano covered some of our states in feet of ash. You can cruise right above active hot springs and over huge fault zones (these can be seen on your depth sounder) and some in shallow clear water.
The last big eruptions blew out so much material that the land surface collapsed into a big hole (caldera) now forming a lake with cold, clear water and with good boat ramps for launching and resupply. All in America's first National Park, surrounded by high lush green cool forests. You will see amazing bird life, and along the shores great views of large mammals. With back country permits, you can anchor in beautiful coves (or even tie at some public (no car access) docks). On the water, you will be far from the crowds.
What an experience! -- a learning adventure for you (and your kids, if they accompany you).
This is why we have fine trailer boats, easy to launch and retrieve, and comfy to live aboard. Consider the adventure of a lifetime aboard your C-Dory this summer.

I'll happily 2nd your suggestion of boating Yellowstone Lake.
After reading your post, I again read through your sharing of time & information about Yellowstone Lake on Halcyon Days. What a fantastic write up, well worth the re reading & the big bonus of jogging our memories of time shared with you two, there, the summer it was written.
JoLee is still not quite up to boating, though we will still be enjoying Yellowstone & the surrounding area via truck camper very soon as she is progressing very well in her back surgery recovery.

Yes, Jay and JoLee- We have had wonderful shared times on the water. So glad to hear that the healing is progressing for JoLee.
Let us know when you are planning to return to Yellowstone - we plan to head up there this summer for camping also - perhaps our wakes can cross again.
Cheers - E & B |
