My friend has an old Evinrude motor he is trying to determine its age and value. Here's what is on the motor:

Evinrude Motor Company

Made in Milwaukie, Wisconsin.

The Original Evinrude Fleetnoon ..< ( not sure if this is spelled correctly )

Motor number 2F732

and there is another number on the plate as well..B100J

any ideas : thanks

A picture would be worth a thousand words in helping to identify the motor.

Evinrude built a model 732 engine in 1933 that was 31.2 hp. If 732 is your model number, that may be the engine.

Oh, and I think it may be Fleetwood. That may have been an Evenrude tag.

To piggyback on Potter Water, you may want to check out this website: http://www.marineengine.com/manuals/evinrude/ it states manuals, but it lists them by motor model numbers.

How many horsepower is it? And yeah... a photo would help a lot. Right now I have no idea of the size or even the general era since I can't see it.

Evinrude (note spelling for searching, as well as spelling of Milwaukee) did make a "Fleetwin," but they were smaller engines (but then, maybe your engine is a smaller one?).

Yes it is a Fleetwin and he thinks it's a 7HP or a 7.5 HP

I learned to fish with my grandpa in Yellowstone with one of those hanging on the stern of his mahogany ply boat. He called it his Evinrude Cusser because it wouldn't start without a lot of cussin going on before and during starting and then he'd have to cuss it to keep it going.

I asked him if it runs and he said he hasn't run it for a long time but the compression is good.

Tug,
Seems like you've been absent here for awhile-the past couple of years you have had a lot of interesting threads-maybe you're all caught up on your boat projects and are just fishin?? Glad you're still out there and thanks for all the good threads-they've been helpful!

I should be posting more often now , have been busy dealing with a death in the family and of course the lawyers. Those boat projects was fun, I don't know where I got the energy to do them. I probably would not even of tried most of them without the tremendous help and advice from this site and its members. Thanks

We had a 1935 Johnson which was similar, but a bit smaller than this motor. I would bet on the 7.5 hp and 32 or 33 as being correct. I also rebuilt another of the 5 hp which was at a summer camp I worked at--and both of those motors started right up--but you did have to keep the plugs and carbs clean.

I emailed the pictures to an Antique Outboard ( Evinrude ). dealer and this is the reply he sent me:

Your engine appears to be an Evinrude model " F " Fleetwin 1929.

The actual model number is 2F . It is serial number # 732.

The 2F was 7 hp.

The just pain " F " was 1928 and only 6 hp.

They were very good motors and quite popular in their day.

Your looks complete . The carburetors were very fragile and are often broken or missing on those motors.

Mystery solved ..thanks for all your help, it directed me to look in the right direction.
