We spent some time in Juneau with Casey and Mary before we turned south and they continued on to Skagway. We are now in Hoonah, Ak. and will be traveling south toward Sitka tomorrow, slowly.

Russ and Toni,
Thanks for the reminder about the blog. Fun to follow along. Fly fishing and sulpher bathing. good thing there were showers "elsewhere". I love hot pools but sometimes the smell depletes the pleasure some.
I have not kept track of my covered miles but I have almost the same number of hours on my twins as you have. (689) Don't think I have as many miles, not even close.
Take care and have a wonderful rest of the trip. The blog and the pictures are awesome.
Harvey

Those shots of Tenakee Springs look great. We went there in 1999? on our sailboat, Our Journey. Just as we came into Tenakee Inlet a couple of trawlers followed us in. Turned out "they" had closed fishing for a couple of days. So we spent our time there with about 40 trawlers at the docks. And by the way, they never turn their engines or deck light off.
Went to fill a couple of jerry cans with diesel, told to come back tomorrow, the fuel barge had just come in and they needed to let the diesel settle. Came back the next day with my 3 cans. The dock master, said "hurry up, or the fuel line goes over the side and it will not come back up till tomorrow." Got my 15 gal, and found out those trawlers were taking 1000 gal ea.
They also have/had a bath house, certain times for guys, certain times for gals. Judy went in the morning, found the fire engine pumping out the pool. Turned out the night before the seiners and the trawlers had a fight and they were pumping out the blood.
Also found a big business at the grocery store, flying crew in and out. Some of the youngsters on the fishing boats got more than they bargained for and wanted to go home. New crew was flying in to replace them.
Went back to the boat and had a gam with all the boats visiting from Juneau. Learned more about Alaska politics than I wanted to know. They also had a 48 Ford dump on the beach, and I spent several days wondering if I could get it out on a barge.
Moved south to Baronoff Hot Springs and Port Alexander. A lot of fishermen in Port Alexander, up from the lower 48. Port Alexander had a fish buyer, who also sold fuel.
We then went over to Craig, where we saw a really big YACHT, with the Hilton name on it. It seemed to be staffed with a large group of young ladies, all about 20. The joys of being really really rich. Judy didn't agree with me on that.
That was a great trip. Thanks for bringing your trip up

Russ and Toni,
Really enjoying the blog. Thanks.
Congrats on the fly fishing trip. It reminded me that my first fly fishing guided experience was in Alaska fishing for Dolly Varden. I hope you continue with the fly rods, I would love to fish some Columbia tribs with you guys.
Safe Travels

Russ & Toni,
We'er following along & enjoying your cruise via your blog.
Was sure hoping you would take the outside route down Chichagof Island to Sitka. It would have been good to hear how your Ranger faired as compared to our 22 C-Dory in the challenging waters of open ocean & the inlets to & from it on that route.
Your photos & writing are well done & a pleasure to view & read especially in relation to the many places we have had first hand experience with too.
Thanks very much for sharing this adventure. I know it can be difficult to do & at times at least for me, subtract from my own enjoyment of time that could be spent relaxing & just enjoying the surroundings.

We have a few more updates as we near the end of our cruise. We didn't get to see everything we would like to have seen because of weather, but that gives us a reason to come back some time in the future. One can really spend many, many years cruising here and never see it all. We have met a lot of people that have cruised SE Alaska for 4,5,6,7,and 8 seasons. Some people leave their boats here through the winter and return each summer. It really is the Last Frontier.
