eBay auctions sell at higher final prices when they start at very low beginning points ( such as $.01, as it attracts more initial interest) and are without reserve. It seems scarier for a seller, but there's a hundred ways for the seller to backout and protect themselves if the price isn't what they need. _________________ Dustin |

Its pretty obvious that too small a motor wreaks havok on resale . Its great for forum discussions though......
JimDuck , better check your figures on new motors you are a few thousand of the mark on the shy side .Also The Yamaha Merc partnership was over when Merc sued Yamaha in 2006.

Nice, truthful comment, Marc!
Something to not be forgotten by all who are, or will be, in the market for a new motor!

I was hoping you salty bastards hadn't discovered this boat, lol. I should have known better.
It ended up going for just over 38k. I found it a few days ago and have been following it and bid it up to 38k at the very end which was my limit.
Congrats if a fellow C-brat won her. Let us all know how she ended up! |

Don't think you can... isn't the hull only rated for 200hp on the 25? |

If the person who bought it for 38K is going to settle for the 115 and there are no other problems with the boat, it is not a bad deal at all. Of course you could flank that 115 with two 80's and make it a tripple, sell the kicker....Just kidding.
The 115 and 75 EFI are the same block and same weight (400 lbs). The HP is not really an issue (Maybe for insurance), but that HP is only achieved at high RPM, and should not stress the transom. Twin 90's have been put on these boats and they do fine. There are these 115 EFI's for less than 10 K on the internet. Rigging may be as much as $2,000, so for 50K you could have a very nicely outfitted boat with max hp...not a bad deal--if the rest of the boat is OK.
It will be interesting to see if the new owner finds his way to the C Brats, or is a C Brat, and what is performance numbers are. _________________ Bob Austin

Just as an FYI, in case it comes back up on eBay again. I received a notice from eBay that the original seller had backed out and that I was the successful winner of the boat and to contact the seller to make arrangements. I verified that the same message was waiting for me when I actually signed in to eBay.
I emailed the seller and a short while later received a message back from somebody with a very odd email address (typical spammer stuff). I replied back to him with an account I use for these kinds of things and never heard back. I also emailed the seller directly through eBay with no responses back.
We ended up purchasing a Venture 26 out of Seattle instead, but figured I would share this information with the forums in case it comes back online again. |

Looks like the same boat….the question remains, if you want to only do displacement speeds. Also you would want to compare the cost of upgrading power plants and what improvements were made in the next few years.
I recently ran a 2006, and felt the fit and finish etc was nicer than the 2003 I had owned--certainly worth something…. The 25 has a lot going for it, and there would be several options for that boat, including if someone only wanted speeds of less than the low teens…Running the engine wide open to get 12 knots would be a lot of wear and tear. If you wanted a 8 to 10 knot boat--go for it. At the price of a 22. |

Buy it, sell the current outboard and re-power. It's priced well. _________________ Roger on Meant to be |
