Getting ready for the summer fishing, I thought it would be a good idea to have an extra fuel line connector. Being in the area of the nearest Honda dealer (60 miles from home), I stopped to get the connector. I was told that they would need the serial number and model number of my 2003, 90HP in order to get the correct one. I phoned in their requested information and was surprised to find out that the part would be $34.95 plus S&H, thank you. Yes, that small bakeolite connector that you can buy from Pro Bass for $7.99. Generic for sure.
Originally I had wanted a Yahama, but was told by C-Dory that because I was getting a special deal ( my boat was scheluded for the 2003 Seattle Boat Show ) that I would have to take a Honda. My friend who sells Yamahas has the last laugh on me, good for him!
There's a couple of lessons here.

Chica-
Thanks for the lessons. That's why I buy just about everything I can over the Internet unless there's some need to have a local purchase point, or the shipping charges wipe out the merchandise cost and tax advantages.
Have a great weekend! Joe. _________________ Sea Wolf, C-Brat #31

Price a Yamaha connector through a Yamaha dealer; same deal you get at the Honda dealer. All OEM parts (purchased through the dealer)regardless of brand name are expensive. _________________ Jerry and Helen

Buying parts from a dealer is always a "bend over I'll drive" situation does not matter who the manufacturer is.
Try boats.net I have had very good luck with them and they tend to be about 30 to 40 percent cheaper than I can get locally here in Portland. They carry both Yamaha and Honda OEM parts but take about 10 days to process and ship. _________________ 1995 25' Cruise Ship #3 |
