Hi,
I'm new at this and hope to eventually buy a smaller C-Dory. I'm trying to get a feel for a fair price on used C-Dory 16 or 19' Anglers with typical engine and option packages. Starting from new pricing, does anyone know how the pricing tends to go over time? Is there a typical "depreciation curve". I guess this assumes that maintenance is kept up. Thanks, Alan |

There's a good question to which we'd all love to get an answer: What's the fair price for our C-Dorys from new on down?
I'm not a seller nor buyer so the best place to find the answer to that question is to check the for sale ads. There are 2 ea 16's advertised on this site. They appear to be a fairly cheap price for a small C-Dory, both under $15K.
Search the "boats for sale" ads on the internet, call a couple of dealers, and then you'll have a good idea. Since the C-Dory is a niche boat, the dealer may be the best bet. since you're in Canada, try the Port Alberni dealer.
How do you buy a C-Dory? First you have to catch one. The only place where they're common is on this site, so again, look at the for sale ads..

In addition to the active "for sale" ads here, check out "Marketplace" in the same sub-section. That's an archive of past for sale ads. You don't see actual prices paid, but you can glean a lot by just looking at the ads, the photos, the asking prices, and perhaps seeing how soon they sold (gives a hint about relationship between asking and selling price).

Thanks very much for this. I went through all the Marketplace archive and got a lot of good information and comparison data. Gives me a much better idea. |

The C-dory 19 is appreciating not depreciating Currently a New c-dory 19
2016 model which I might add
The Factory has NOT built one in 3 years with moderate equipment
fitting will set you back a minimum of $60K out the door so if you find a
used one in good condition less than 15 years old You can expect to
pay $35 K these boats really hold their value. Even at $35K that is
still $25K less than a new one So pay it and be done with it next year they will just be more. Happy Boating . The Fish Commander |
