The Boaters Exchange may still be in business, right downtown, if so it is worth a look. Lots of good bakeries too.

My "notes from a local" are already showing omissions! Boaters Exchange is now located at the corner of First and Bevan. That's a short walk from the marina. As you walk up past the Pier Hotel continue along First with the Fairway Market on the right. You will see Boaters Exchange on the right just past the Coop gas station.

I will drop the notes up at the marina this morning so don't forget to ask for your copy, one per boat, as you check in.

Just as an FYI, we are having a touch of thunder and lightning this morning but this should blow through quickly and be followed by some classic PNW showers to freshen things up. The weather guy says these should clear up Friday afternoon and then mixed sun and cloud for Saturday with more sun on Sunday and beyond.

Too bad! Were you able to call in to the marina and get a refund?

I was just up at the Marina for a few hours this afternoon after taking Natural C-lection from Cadboro Bay to Sidney. The weather has cleared up after today's amazing electrical storm! I don't remember seeing a storm like that in Victoria!
I think we have 7 boats already there, and H dock is beginning to look like a C-dory gathering! I'll be back up after work tomorrow for Fish on Fifth. Jackie, Ian and I (as well as Jamie and Denise) went to the Thai place on Beacon - delicious!

There's a nice mention of the C-Brats gathering on page 11 of the Peninsula News Review (the local free newspaper) this morning. Smile

Greetings from Port Sidney Marina. Who-hoo! Sun is finally shining, hope the fog is lifting! We came over yesterday afternoon from Stuart Island in pea-soup fog. Great to see eveyone!

What a nice gathering! Caryn and I had to leave a day early because we had a prior commitment for Sunday. But it was great seeing old friends and meeting new ones.

We had the full opportunity to hone our Radar and GPS skills as we picked our way through pea soup fog on our way back to the states. It was a good experience.

The Friday night dinner at Fish on 5th was great. The staff at the restaurant did a wonderful job of squeezing all of us in as they were expecting much less than the 38 or so C-Brats who attended. Thank you Mike J. For planning this event. Nice job! I vote to make this an annual event. I love the town and the marina. Next time I'm hoping we can stay for the entire event.

I would like to make one more thank you. In true C-Brat style, Sam Landsman generously offered to lend us his car from Twin Bridges so we wouldn't have to drive the boat all the way back to Everett (an additional 2-3 hours) where our car was left and then have to turn around and drive the boat back up to Twin Bridges later in the week. Thank you Sam.

Thank you, Mike, for a great C-Dory gathering in Sidney. It is the second gathering we've attended and we were happy to see friends made last year in Comox and meet new friends this year. We enjoyed the boat tour, and got lots of great ideas about how to use the space in our 22' C-dory efficiently. And the potluck dinner was wonderful.

See you all next year, if not before!

Oh, and by the way, if anyone is passing through Nanaimo we'd love to see you. Just pm us.

Sidney is going down as a GREAT CBGT! Coming over in the pea-soup fog Friday was like boating by braille, but we made it!. Saturday we had a great dock walk, christenings, and a fabulous potluch (as usual!). The fog lifted Sunday, all was good for departure, cleared customs in Roche Harbor, and we are now anchored up for our last night out in our all-time favorite spot, we call it Matia Cove (unnamed cove on the SE corner of Matia Island). First order of business, get Baxture to shore!
