We later found out the rock slide shown in this video happened within two days of our arrival & another just hours after we hurriedly left going into the start of the incoming flood tide across the entrance bar. This is where we in 2004 ran the much bigger ebb rapids, but most assuredly not on purpose. The small rapids I go down Up & down in the mokai are located inside the inlet close to the east arm entrance. They were a little to much to film while going up. We have in the past gone through this area several times at slack tide or close to it & didn't know it turned into a shallow rapid with lots of rock close to the surface until this trip.

For those who are interested & haven't viewed our trip through the Fords Terror big ebb tide rapids in 2004, this is a link to it. Its pretty poor quality video & about 3.5 minutes long. The part through the rapids is very short, so skip to the end part if you wish to same time.

Awesome J&J. Need to get down there to Ford's Terror too. Next time you come up, maybe you should just bring the Mokai. That boat goes anywhere. I am putting in a request to the Admiralty for one. Maybe a few mods,; cabin, head, heat...Mokai-Brats.com. Keep them coming. You're saving me fuel. _________________ Steve and Colleen Torrence

One of our favorite places. I tried to take a 12.5 foot RIB with a 25 hp thru the rapids at max flood, and could not stem the flow, at 25 knots! Great ride however.
Yes, depending on the tide, the rapids at the entrance can have a depth of less than 2 feet, with lots of rocks. We try and wait for slack--but there never is really a slack--the change of tide/current goes thru the rapids, and there is not one time when the water is exactly still.
Also a good place for bears around the entrance. Wonderful place--and another wonderful video. Those slides seem to be very common. There was one the first time we were there....impressive. _________________ Bob Austin

Jay, you have been blessed with some amazing boating oportunities. Visiting places and seeing things most people only see on postcards!
Or maybe I just have "the waters always bluer on the other side of the dock" syndrom!
Anyway - colour me green and thanks again.
