great videos Jay... keep them coming... what camera/cam are you using? the resolution is very good and the camera quite steady... when you're shooting from the Mokai how are you holding the camera? tripod assisted? small steady cam? just steady hands?

Jim, I use a Sony HDR-XR520V HandyCam. The video, High Definition 1080 translates to a digital pixel use of 1920x1080 frame at 29 frames a second. You Tube cuts this down to 640x360 or below in Mpeg 4 format. This makes for very clear video on a big screen HDTV, but not so good streaming from YouTube. The camera can hold 240 GB of video & photos before having to download & can also take 12 meg photos & uses like my Canon binoculars a steady shot to smooth out the unsteady hands. I had over 6.5 hours of film & 600 photos stored on the camera by the end of the cruise. I never used a tripod & most video was shot while holding the camera in one hand & controlling the boat or Mokai with the other & trying to switch back & forth between photos & video.

The only major down side of the camera is its small lens which causes poor lighting & video clarity in some situations like cloudy days. Also in auto mode which I have to use being as I'm videoing on the go the lens will over darken even on a cloudy day when pointed in the direction of the small light that is available. In my opinion it was the best camera available in 2010 that could be used easily with one hand.

Don & Brenda, I'm happy to see your enjoying them.

Jay

Another marvelous video. You capture the feeling the Red Bluff Bay--a spot not to be missed on an Alaska Cruise---but there are so many of these wonderful places. Might even motivate us to take another trip up there!
