Dan-

When I bought my "87 Cruiser used in "98, both the starboard tank's forward cleats were loose. I cleaned out the holes and some very minor rot, filled the spaces with Marinetex epoxy, and jammed oversize sheet metal style stainless screws in the holes, using the hydraulic pressure of the screws to push the wet epoxy into the spaces. No problems after 7 years. None of the other cleats has ever loosened up. Good survey idea. Joe.

We either did not have any problems, or were not aware of them, for the two years we owned our CD22...

Yes,
1995
2004
Both
welded new supports to the tank and lagscrewed them into the deck and sealed with 5200. Some have pulled out and I need to come up with a better repair.

I just noticed on my return trip from Blakely that my Port Side front chalk is pulling out. I will have to explore the damage that might be done.

1. Have you had a problem with the screws pulling out that hold the cleats/chocks in place around the fuel tanks? Yep. A 58 gallon tank held in place by 6 #8 screws was just plain crazy.

2. When was the boat built? 1995

3. If you've had the problem when did it show up? While I was out halibut fishing last year.

3. Which chocks came loose? Front, sides or both. One tank or both? Screws pulled out on the Port side then the weld on the tank support started to tear.

4. Have you noticed any rot in the holes that the screws backed out of? Nope, I filled them in with 5200.
