Kerri On is on the road again! Later than we planned but underway. My partner Carolyn had her house for sale all summer with no action and suddenly a buyer showed up and a deal was made for 2 week close. We are a bit jumbled aboard with too much stuff still but it will sort out. We plan a leisurely tow down toward the Ca Delta for first launch. Goals being rest up after a whirlwind summer and wildlife viewing and seeing fall colors. Will keep you posted. This afternoon we take the Blackball ferry Coho to Port Angeles and then on down hwy 101 to Astoria for the maritime museum and fish and chips at the bowpicker boat. ( it's the best). G&C.
We'll be monitoring your progress this Fall/Winter as you meander South. Have Fun/Be Safe!
Sorry we didn't connect this summer, but maybe somewhere next year. We're still planning Southeast AK Trip #5 (departure point: Prince Rupert) for Jun/Jul/Aug.
We arrived back in The Villages a few days ago following what we're calling our "Glorious Summer" (San Juans, southern BC, Lake Powell).
Best,

We got in to Sequim Wa and overnited with Roger and Janet (Dreamer). Great catch up visit and wonderful people. Leaving Sequim, we opted for a run down hwy 101 towards Astoria. We stopped for coffee and a few groceries near Hoodsport on the Hood canal. Getting back on the road we only covered a few miles till the highway was blocked at Potlatch state park by a bad accident. As we were right across from Potlatch rv, we pulled in for the night as we heard several hours would be needed to clear the road. Unfortunately the accident claimed two lives. we figure we were being guided to make a stop The highway is windy and it was really pouring rain. I pulled over several times to let folks pass as I was towing at posted limits of 40-45 which was plenty for conditions. We had a pleasant overnite at the park still pouring rain. Good facilities and nice people run the park. Will be underway for the Astoria area for tonight Several people held up on the road figured we were pretty dialed in towing our home this way givin the pouring rain, if it floods we're good. With the Bimini up and side curtains on we're staying good. Heat is on and wifi. We are actively purging unneeded gear! Man we brought it all this season. Life is good. Looking for the sun. I look forward to your reports also
I left the NW on Oct. 20th, right after my home closed, and am at Kona Kai Marina on San Diego Bay, at the western end of Shelter Island. I can identify with purging, needing to leave and still dealing with too much "stuff" as the rain continued on...
If you come this way after leaving the Delta, I can almost guarantee sunshine, lots to see on the Bay, with every imaginable size and shape vessel, a long walkway along the shore, seals, pelicans, scooters, blue heron, and guys sometimes catching halibut nearby
When you are ready to move on, Sedona and Lake Powell await, then S. Texas if you wish.
I have family nearby, so plan to winter here, with hopefully a trip to Catalina sometime before returning to the NW in April.
San Diego is a lovely winter spot and if any C-Brats from the NW come down, I am happy to give you a ride on Cascadia. _________________ Anne Cox

We've been out of wifi for a few days. Been out to the coast at cannon beach Oregon in torrential rain for most of the run from Washington close to having to pull over at times. Boat is sorting out as we move non useful items to the truck for purging later where dry. On the road this am out of Tuatlin Oregon for Roseburg. Will go via the Umpquah and Rogue byways if not too moist. Later. Kerri On crew |

Seeing some water issues in other threads I thought I'd post one. I have now experienced the moisture buildup inside from 100 percent humidity both inside and outside the boat. We have towed thru the most amazing bunch of rain since leaving BC. Last night I found a 1/4 cup of water under the water tank area. It looks like it sucked in via the hole in the cabin bulkhead probably "station wagon" effect. The side of the water tank was wet. Starboard side of the boat is dry. Not bad given the amount of water flying around. |

HI George,
Good luck with getting rid of the redundancies. We moved stuff back and forth from the boat to the truck as we converted from boat to trailer camper & back again. Our issues were heat, so yours are condensation.
When it rained on the trailer quite a pool built up before it filled the pump under the cabin doorway. That caused a problem on one occasion when we went down a hill and the water rushed forward and overwhelmed the pump and then came into the cabin. Plus, driving down the road and looking in the right side rear mirror at the pump throwing water out at pedestrians on the sidewalk was a bit un-nerving.
Also, in front of the pump housing wall is a plug that when removed water in the cabin can reach the pump. That plug keeps the water from going into the cabin, but mine leaks despite two attempts to seal it.

We are much dryer now! Amazing what moving south will do! We ran the I5 to Roseburg and overnited at the visitors center right beside the Upmquah. Great campsite!! Very quiet and Canada geese resting spot. We ran up the Umpquah/Rogue river scenic byway and it is stunning for fall colors. We had hoped to stop at the Steamboat Inn as we did last year in Sept for lunch but it was closed for the season as were all the camp sites along the way. We didn't tow up to Crater Lake as we did last year. It is a high one! The north gate is closed so an approach from the south would be needed. We napped alongside the highway for a bit then near dark made it to Shady Cove rv with a beautiful spot fronting the Rogue river. As we were setting up for the night 2 drift boats came by fishing the rapids. Very dory like boats I have always thought them cool The fishing we hear is good. The weather has been great. Highs into the upper 60's and we are dry. So nice from the last week of pouring rain. The boat is getting dialed in as we move uneeded frew frew out. We're keeping all of our pets and good luck stuff. Gord our stuffed frog on the radio shelf (radar and guidance advice). Our clay gecko on the galley shelf and hummingbird glass ornament, bear our stuffed mascot 2 inches high, angel on the windshield (of course) and origami crane and a Japanese lantern (small) given by my niece. All small light good luck stuff.
When confused or not sure what to do we ask Bear or Gord. They always just stare back so we turn right. Life is good. We are getting south! George and Carolyn |

We are launched in Delta marine in Rio Vista. Spent the last week meandering. After leaving the Umpquah area we wentdown the road a bit to near Jacksonville Oregon and overnighted at David Hangartners place. He kindly invited us to stop in if on the way by, so we did. Said a brief hello to his wife Mary as she was working a lot. After we left there we headed on to the California coast to see redwoods and run hwy 101. Very cool on the coast. We stayed in the Jed Smith redwood state park. I could barely jam my payment into the slot. Apparently many parks are slated to close and no staff are around to collect $. But....at 0700 the next morning we awoke to the sounds of suburbia! A leaf blower was being wielded to clear pine needles from the road. Oh my? In a state park full of redwoods. We kept on down hwy 101 stopping as we liked, one needs time to go 101 as it is slow! We stopped in Laytonville at the Red Fox Indian casino for rv friendly overnight and $6 turkey dinner. Poured all night and cool. Stayed in the Sonoma area overnight as it was getting dark for the tricky approach to Rio Vista. A bit easier in daylight. It is sunny and mild at Delta Marine and the Yamaha fired first click so we are good to look around the Delta. Any c brats around come on out and play. Planning a slow meander about. George and Carolyn. |

A leaf blower art 0700. I don't think they would get away with that in my neighborhood. Too many older retired folk, like my neighbors Mr Smith and Mr Wesson. Have a great time and enjoy the California sun.
