Has anyone used plastic/teflon bunk slides on a C-Dory trailer? I have two issues to question: 1) Will the boat be stable and not slide around? 2) My boat is bottom painted as I keep it in the water except for Maintenance, will the slides damage the paint?

Many of the Tom Cats use the slicks on the front 8 feet of the trailer. It will wear the paint slightly--but that is fairly easy to touch up when necessary.

Generally the C Dory22/25 does not need the slicks. Yes, you don't want the entire bunk to be covered---the boat will slip and slide.

What is the issue that you want slicks?

Never take the bow winch off until the boat is in a position to actually go in the water with slicks on!

The trailer for our 25 came with full bunk slides on the bottom four bunks. No issue with sliding around, and I've seen no evidence of additional wear on the bottom paint. The only real difference I see is that the boat slides on and off the trailer easier, and the carpet under those slides is still in good shape. I like 'em!

Best wishes,
Jim B.

I've thought about installing the nylon/plastic bunk covers for a while, and finally got around to doing it last August.

I bought the bunk covers through Les at EQ Marine and picked them up a the factory (in Marysville as I recall).

The covers come in 10' lengths so I bought two ten-footers for the outside bunks and had them cut another into two five-footers for the forward end of the inside bunks.

Installation was straight forward. Cut the old carpet from the bunk boards - slide on the new covers and put a few aluminum roofing nails on the sides near the back. (Evidently the liner material expands/shrinks and they told me to ONLY nail it near the back end, and only on the edges.

The factory-guy also told me to not fully disconnect the boat before backing down the ramp ... they DO make it easier to get the boat off!

We trailered from Anacortes to Arizona and had NO problem with the boat slipping around, but at Powell it DID launch/recover easier. I'm very happy with the new bunkliner's.

We also have bottompaint, and were told that it won't be a problem. so far, so good.

Best,
Casey&Mary
