I just purchased a like new Carry On 7000 hatch mounted air conditioner for my 22 from a "local" off of Craig's List. It cost $250 and is rated at 6200 btu's. It has all the attachments and like I said, it is immaculate. I intend to use this while on shore power at our dock in North Carolina, especially when the kids come down and need an extra place to sleep. I felt at this price, it was worth the extra cash, rather than sticking a window a/c unit through the front window. I would have NEVER shelled out the $1000 plus that West Marine wants for this unit now.

My question is - does anyone out there in Doryland use one of these on their 22? I will need to build some sort of deck support to carry/support the rear of the AC when it is mounted through the hatch. I can figure something out, but I would like to see the handywork of some of you talented Brats out there might have come up with.

Pictures are worth a 1000 words. Wink

I don't have any photos. I used one on a cuddy cabin boat I owned which was the size of a C Dory. I made a plywood base, which supported the "Carry ON" AC unit. They work. but do have to be put on deck and the shroud attached. You can also use lead sinkers in a hem to keep the skirt down. Probably will run on a Honda 2000, but not on a EU 1000.
