I hesitate to ask this since we really don't want to have outside contact while on Lake Powell in September, but unfortunately we may have this need. We use Verizon wireless for our cell/data communications. I suspect at the major marinas we might find limited coverage, but when on the lake it is probably limited at best, if any at all. Since we've not been there before we would like to know what to anticipate in this regard. Realistically, what might we expect to find in terms of cell reception? Any area(s) better than others? Thanks folks!

We have Verizon and it works well at Lake Powell......
as long as you have Navajo Mt in sight.
We could not get service anywhere in Oak Canyon where the gathering usually is,
But out on the main channel across from Oak Canyon we had service. |

Thanks for that report Tex! Sounds like the coverage is much better than I had anticipated.

Rob, the main channel in front of the Escalante arm is another place that has good coverage. You see lots of folks doing lazy circles out there. _________________ "And in the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years." - Abraham Lincoln |

The lake is nearly 200 miles long... those two areas with coverage are rather small; just don't want you to get your hopes up for coverage in most of Lake Powell. You can make it a point to get to an area with coverage if you need to check in daily. |

If you have sight of Navajo Mountain you may have cell coverage. We used to use it with our verizon plan and could have a reliable conversations.
Good Luck. |

My AT&T iPhone works there in the location they mentioned where you can see the mountain. The major marinas (but not Dangling Rope) work also.
Other areas are deadsville, man. You're camping, for sure.
