I have twin Honda 90's on my 25. Went to run the engines today to prep for a trip to San Juans. First problem....the starboard engine started fine but wouldn't piss any water. After trying a couple times after seeing if I could locate any clogs etc, still no luck....but on the fourth engine start suddenly all the warning lights on start console flashed, the beeper went off and then nothing - no response atnall when trying to start. At the same time, the hydraulics to raise/ lower the engine don't work. The port engine still operates fine. I can't locate a fuse or breaker that tripped or blew, but there must be one somewhere. I'm afraid I don't know the boat as well as I should...only had it out twice so far. Anybody know what I should be checking? Obviously, I likely need a new impeller for that problem, bit the electrical problem is, well, a mystery to me. Thanks!

The first electrical thing to check are all the ground connrctions. Once you get the engine running, you can attack the water problem. How long did it run?

I ran it for about 30 seconds each time.

Sounds like impeller problems. There must be an over temp sensor that caused a shutdown. After engine sits for a while try a short crank if it turns over you have a good idea what the problem may be.

Would that also affect the circuit for raising the motor?

I would think that is a separate curcuit. Like Charlie said check your grounds, any fuses and connectors.Did trim work before the warning lights flashed? You may also want to try a light tap on the trim motor with a rubber mallet or something that won't chip paint. I have seen this work on numerous occasions especially if motors have been sitting for awhile, a light tap will sometimes free up a small bit of corrosion on the contacts...worth a try before you pull anything apart. Good luck.

Separate battery for each engine? My 25 (single engine) has a slow-blow 30 amp fuse from each battery bank. It is the kind that you can reset by pushing a lever on the face of the fuse. It should be located very close to the battery.

Have you tried any other electrical items that are run from that side?

It may not necessarily be the impeller. Have you tried putting a wire inside the pee hole to clear any obstructions? If the boat has not run for a while, I have been able to get other motors (haven't had the issue with our Honda) to pee by putting the motor in gear (make sure everything is clear from the props - and assuming you are doing this on the trailer?) momentarily.

Hope that gets you started.

Best wishes,
Jim B.

yes to all the above. check for a fuse and for a battery switch. After you get it to start, I assume you are running the engine on muffs?, make sure the muffs are on good. some times my 90 on the 22 would have a hard time picking the water up at first if it was not on right. once it started it was fine. Use a air line if you have one to blow out the piss tube. You might also want to check the thermostat if you can get the water to flow but the heat alarm comes on again. I just changed two in my 225, on for each side.

Yes, separate batteries. I'll try again tomorrow to see what else is affected. I've checked for obstructions, but I'll try putting it in gear IF I get it started.
Thanks for the ideas!
