Hi all! Newbie, here.

So I see that my new-to-me Honda BF150 on my new-to-me CD25 has an
extra hose and filter/one-way valve with a barb hanging out the end. There does not seem to be any mating hoses anywhere in the vicinity. The freshwater flush hose connector is separate, the fuel like is there, the throttle cables are there, there are two other "vacuum" type hoses there and connected (speed and ??). What is this extra one for?

I haven't had a chance to run the engine yet, so I guess this would be a good time to get some input on this hose.

Can any of you clue me in as to what this hose is for, and whether it should be terminated somewhere important?

Thanks for any input,
Ray

Most likely a pitot tube hose to run a line up to a pressure speedometer.

The pitot tube does come out of that rubber pass-thru grommet. It's called the "speed sensor tube A" according to the manual.

I'd pull the motor lid, look at the other side of that grommet and see where the tube goes. If it heads down under the engine, into the lower leg, that's it. Next I'd see of there is a matching tube coming back from the instruments. It may have gotten disconnected. If not, and the tube is unplugged, there'll be water coming out of it when you're moving. So see if the end is plugged to keep water from spraying over the back of the boat when you're under way.

A wild card would be a carb vent hose. (If the engine in carbed). Looking at the tiny hole in the end of the fitting makes me think that the hose IS terminated with that fitting for some magic purpose. It isn't a nice big hole...at least the barbed fitting doesn't look like what you'd normally see as a "splice" type barbed fitting. Could also be an ambient air pressure sense point because of the possibility of wildly varying ambient pressures inside the cowling???? Ah the mysteries.

In any case, I'm betting that it doesn't go anywhere and that it is good as it is, for whatever purpose.

I have the same looking thing coming from the lower unit of 2005 Honda 75. Always thought it was for a speed indicator tube.
