I bought the former 2nd byte today and wanted a little history. Seems like a nice boat. I have yet to put my first mile in a C-Dory but can't wait.

The boat is now called Hook Tender but I was thinking of changing the name, again. Is that some sort of bad Mo-Jo.
Do I have to bark at the Moon while having a Beer and a Cigar while I put the new name on, or will just getting the letters straight suffice.

No Dogon I'm not going to use Lost@C no matter how appropriate you think it may be. Rolling Eyes

Now if all the paperwork get's straightened out and it runs well I'll be a happy boy.
Also thinking about getting Naked this summer but it's too early to tell.

Later
Wade

Hi Wade,

You found him. 2nd Byte was mine until I decided to go with a new 22'
Cruiser.

Any info I can pass along I would be more than glad to do so.

Nice to have you on board. I look forward to jawing with you on site or you can PM me anytime as well.

Hope you can make Naked Island over the 4th. Should be a good trip.

I'm sure Dogon Dan can come up with a myriad of names if you're going to change it. But be prepared for some off the wall stuff. Heh heh.

Wade, Congratulations on your "new" boat. There is an official de-naming ceremony in the documents Section of this site. I have used it for denaming my previous Anna Leigh and then renaming it as Spirit. Am waiting for the new 25 now. About three more weeks I think. It is a fun little ceremony to do, and keeps the water Gods all happy.

Congrats on the new C-Dory Wade. Looking forward to a summer of good fishing. I hope the new boat treats you as well as mine has.

Wade - this is no mere superstition - especially if you want to come back from that trip you are talking about and not be "Lost@C" - do the De-naming Ceremony and a proper christening! And the Beer is an ESSENTIAL part, not just any Beer will do...GUESS which Beer is favored in these parts!

I've heard there are at least 4 C-Dory's in town or just up the road.

I still can't figure out where I said I was planning this trip! Here was my ?

I have been clicking around C-D wise and saw it mentioned that 4 C-D 22's have made the trip from seattle to Homer, in the water . Has anybody heard of or done such a thing? That Cordova to Haines section looks a little open, exposed and desolate.

wade

Since I posted this ? I found that topic was discussed on this forum recently under an unrelated heading. It DOES NOT COME UP by doing a search for " seattle Homer" I had not read the thread that discussed it.

However if you google "c-dory 22 seattle to homer" this pops up

http://lists.samurai.com/pipermail/trawlers-and-trawlering/2003-July/061201.html
That is where I read about the topic and only asked if anyone here had done it...........!!!!!!!!!!!!

As for the renaming issue.
I try to only drink homebrewed Beer that I have made. It probably already has bad mo-jo because the last owner changed the name with no hocus pocus! Shocked Speaking of Beer I NEED ONE!!!!!!!

I looksee'd that thread: now I know why I am told by Alaskans at the docks everywhere in south central "how great a boat I have" Exclamation Very Happy It obviously has been done Thumbs Up It would be cool if one of them popped-on here to Cool and hopefully some would keep their human-spirit-squelching-opinions to themselves Shocked

I don't know that I make great Beer but I try to make enough!!!

I make the Pretty pipers lager and the raspberry wheat for the wife, both modified of course. I add some corn sugar so I am violating that German law reinhiest---something or other, Rolling Eyes never did follow very well.

When I get that beautiful boat in the water and have too many Beer 's I may just pilot it some place others think I shouldn't, and maybe not on purpose. Maybe bad things will happen to me, but that would be called an idiot penalty. If the world had more idiot penaltys there would be less idiots.

Beautiful! ... but I lied Smile I have not made a batch in years Sad But that is gonna change, there is a brighter day comin' Hot Smile

Since this is a pub and all...

I'll tell ya what got me off home-brew... snowmachines. Hard to get enough time set aside for brewing, then I'm mechanic for all my buds I ride with, keeps me pretty busy and banged-up-tired when it's all said and done Neutral
I brewed mosly from heart, didn't follow many recipes (though I read a huge brewing book---learned a lot Idea ) Made tons of awesome country fruit-wines that were always over 14% Crook lol I was told by someone sweet and kind to stop making it so she can start loosing weight Disgust --- Laughing (true Shocked )
If we get to the southeast and the winters are too soggy for "Snowmachin'n" (how do you spell that anyway Confused ) I'll break-out the old equipment again and go-to-town. Their ain't nutin better that Home Brew Smile Thumbs Up Xmas Tongue

I've never been much for superstition.....but I have to admit that I would be alittle hesitant to change the name of my vessel. After reading the denaming ceremony on the site I was reminded of a story. A whale of a story at that. Jon 1: 4-16

Beer Beer Beer
Cool, I'm a home brewer as well. I mostly brew in the winter so I can cool it off in - dergree weather. That would be really cool to bring some for the Naked trip but unfortunatly I always drink it all right before and after it's done. Maybe I'll go get some supplies to start a Naked batch. Still dropping below 30 at night. I'll call it "Naked Blond" Pale Ale. Idea Rolling Eyes

Toothy: I plan on taking a few trips to Seward around silver season. We should hook up! Thumbs Up Maybe you can show me a couple nice Ling holes. Laughing

Careful with the homebrewing, no telling where it will lead! Just look at David and me to see what happens when a hoppy hobby runs amok... Beer Beer

Cat Dog Cat

It would be good to see another C-Dory in the bay. As far as local knowledge is concerned Waterball is the man! He'll have to show us both the spots. I know a little less than nothing about fishing over here. That's going to change starting tomorrow, I hope.

I have a few more odd's and end's to take care of on the boat and it's off to the ramp.

Tomorrow is the big day, my least favorite day of the year, so it down to the post office first thing to pay my least favorite uncle. Crying or Very sad The day has to get better from there, unless I forget to put in the plug!
