I have a lcx-104c and it will not lock on to satellites for some reason. It has done this several times in the past and I have been able to make it work by doing a gps auto search in the past. I tried this again yesterday and it shows that it is picking up satellites but will not lock on. Does anyone have any suggestions? My guess would be a cable problem but do not see a way to troubleshoot this.

The problem has been resolved for the time being. I hooked the gps unit straight out of the back of the monitor and was able to lock on to the satellites. With that done I mounted back on the roof top and all systems are functional again, I have no idea why it stops working but it should be more reliable then it is.

Uh, if it worked connected directly to the monitor, and then also worked after you reconnected it thru an extension cable, I'd guess a poor connection. Some signal is not coming through the external cable and it must be keeping the GPS from being accepted by the monitor/display. By moving the unit and making new connections you must have cleared up the fault.
Don't forget to check where the cables enter the GPS unit.
And just think, this advice is free.

Free is free but advise still the same thanks for the input, you got me as to the source of the problem. I am just glad the unit still works and I do not need to replace it.

I do have radar, the radar is in the bow and the gps is mounted on the port side at the back of the cabin.

Get the gps puck out of the radar beam. I think its 5 degrees down and 12 degrees up from the horizontal is where the radar broadcasts. I mounted my gps puck on a 1 foot extension so it is above the radar beam.
