|
|
We have recently acquired a marine cd receiver and will be installing it shortly in our 22' Cruiser. We still need to pick up some speakers to install as well. Wondering if any other c-dory owners have suggestions as to speaker brands/models. Also looking for suggestions on where you have installed your own speakers (either for ease of installation or for ultimate sound).
Not looking for fancy speakers, just some quality and reliable sound to enjoy while out on the water.
Any thoughts, ideas or suggestions would be appreciated. _________________ ~April & Dan |

Can't remember where we got ours, maybe Cabela's...but we put them in the seat boxes.

I got a pair of small Polyplanar speakers 3x5 I believe and put them as far back and outboard as close as possible to the back cabin roof. They give great sound and are in a spot not used for anything else. I first bonded the speaker bracket in place with Marintex epoxy and then a couple of small screws to back that up. They are a long ways from the compass and where you can't bonk your head They work fine. George |

I installed box speakers that were recommended here. Audio Source speakers(LS 100). $40.00 delivered to my door. Sound great. Put them up in the corners.
No holes drilled.
1/2" Seaboard(Tap Plastics)abuts window frame and allows speaker bracket to be scooted over to clear wall. No holes and speakers rotate over 90 degrees.
Stereo install HERE
No holes for that either. _________________ Pete

I did a similar rear corner istallation but I used the existing window frame screws for mounting the brackets. There are pictures in my album of this and also what I did for the cockpit. _________________ Gary & Gerrie former Minnie Swann owners

I used some small, inexpensive Poly Planar box speakers. I didn't use a head unit and went with a simple amp, aux input, and volume control. I just swap out which cable is plugged in when I want to play audio from an iPod/iPhone/iPad or satellite radio. The sound is fine for music, moves, and talk radio, but I'm not too picky.
Speakers out of the way in the cabin corners.
Closer up view of a speaker.
Toggle switch and volume control are just above trim tab indicator.

|

I mounted my stereo in the center of the forward overhead shelf and mounted the speakers on either side of the stereo receiver. I bought a marine stereo from West Marine. The speakers required a circular cutout. The back magnet of the speakers are about an inch from the roof. Maybe not the best for sound quality but I am happy with it. |
