Now that we finally have the Chack Chack back in Oregon where we can take on some projects after three years of having the boat out East while we where looping our first project was to add a Suzuki SMIS system while retaining our analog gauges. To do this you simply have to pull the NMEA 2000 data from the currently unused diagnostic port.
The parts for a 2007 and older Suzuki are
990c0-88141 Reverse K8 adapter
990c0-88134 Engine Interface cable
990c0-88112 NMEA 2k power cable
990c0-88108 Backbone extension cable
990c0-88114 terminal 120 ohm male
990c0-88113 terminal 120 ohm female

for now we are using a Suzuki modular interface instrument sytem display, but you could use this system to display your engine data on any NMEA 2000 system
2008 and up you don't need the reverse k8 adapter
The information I have seen says this will only work for engines back to 2004.
The guys at Browns Point are a nice source of information as well
Eric
