We are seeking advice on Columbia River walleyes. What are the best launch sites? What times of the year are the best and the best stretches of river? We welcome any advice and tips from any walleye fishing brats! Thank you and see you on the water! Roger and Cheryl

The best spot in my opinion is all off the the eddies and other structure just down stream (1/2 miles and more) of Jon Day Dam. When I lived in Spokane, I would put in at Rufus, and fish the Willows, Rufus Run, and fish shelves down by Miller's. The fishing was typically very good in the fall. While I love Alaska, I enjoyed my time fishing those areas a good deal. I especially love Lake Roosevelt too as it was much closer, but I never really figured out the walley fishery there. The rainbow and kokanee fishing is outstanding through and well worth the trip.

All good spots..
My favorite is around Umatilla Wildlife refuge, west of McNary Dam. Best launch is Boardman in Oregon or camping at Crowe Butte on Washington side.
Fish the Washington side toward Plymouth. Wally's have been good up til now, but the wind plays the biggest factor on the river- it gets nasty quick..
