WHAT'S A 2004 25' C-DORY CRUISER WORTH??
As listed on the other C-DORY OWNERS' SITE, there is a 25' C-DORY for sale in Maine (for $68,800). After fruitlessly attempting to find pricing ranges for new or used 25' C-Dorys, I'll take the plunge and simply ask ~
what's a reasonable price on a well-equipped (but, then again, everyone equipes differently), moderately used, 25' C-Dory in Maine?? (The price and boat, as described, looked good . . . but before doing a Michigan-to-Maine road trip, I wanted to get some rough idea of value.) As owners of C-Dorys know (and I do have a 2002 22' Cruiser), the NADA values are low and dealer prices on new 25-footers are ethereal . . . so, any help (which would be appreciated!!)??

I don't know, but if you end up selling your 22, let me know. I am north of you, in Charlevoix. and don't see many used 22s come up in this area. I have been waiting patiently for a couple of years.

Thanks,

The resale value of these boats never ceases to amaze me...

I've not seen a used 25 sold yet - this may be one of the first. I'm not counting the early 25's, which are not only quite a bit older, but a different design.

Still, based on the other sales I've seen lately of near new 22's, my guess is this boat will sell for the asking price, and fairly quickly. The 25's are a hot ticket right now, and the chance to get one slightly used at over $10K off would, on the surface, appear to be a great deal.

Quite a bit older? Like maybe a '95?

Careful what you say about us old types. My love ain't old, just experienced.

I have thought about selling the Clara Mae (2003 CD25) and down-sizing to a CD19 a few times but... well see? I can't even talk about it much less get serious about actually selling her.

In the absence of very many used CD25 sales, I would start by pricing a new one comparably equipped and discount it from there. Given the longevity of the C-Dory, I would have jumped at a used CD25 for 10% off the delivered price of a new one had any been available.

I bought my CD25 new in Fla from Three Rivers (no BS and better price) last July w/wallas, swim step, windlass, wasdown pump, norcold fridge, racor fuel filter, four batteries on galvanic isolators, center window, shore power, bottom paint, delivered to NY (still cheaper than Cutter's), 2005 Honda 135 and no electronics or trailer. For the boat in Maine, this is a fair price since you are getting essentially free, the more expensive twin setup, camper canvas, trailer and other electronics and gear already installed. Engine hours should not be an issue since they are low. However it is a used boat and the usual caution on buying used should be considered or.... if you are like me and want to have the fun of doing your own electronics types ( it seems the Maine boat does not have the newer Garmin or Raymarine network MFD's w/chart overlay for radar) Select your own mounting locations and gear, want a single engine instead of twins, and getting someone elses idea of what works for them, I'd go the new route for about the same money. break in my own engine and get the stuff that I want (at additional cost of course). Then again, saving money is always an attractive option. Definitely worth a look see and conversation with the owner if you are in the market. I agree that this boat will not be for sale for long. You might also call Don Q at Three Rivers in Fla and get a straight up quote on a new boat and ask about any scuttlebut he may have on the Maine boat.

Good Luck & Regards,
Pete in NY
