Hi there,
My wife and I are soon to be retired teachers and long time boaters. We are thinking a 22’ C-dory will be just our retirement cruising ticket. There are very few around the East Coast to view. Any chance we might arrange to see yours, or do you know of another in the CT area?? Thanks.

We are retired teachers and long-time boaters, and we found the C-Dory to be the perfect boat for our liveaboard cruising life. There are boats in CT (my wife's home state) so I'm sure you'll have a chance to see boats. You might consider a trip down to the eastern shore of the Chesapeake in early June -- there will be a gathering of C-Dorys there, and there will be lots of time to look at boats, see how different folks have them configured, and take rides. (see the link on the Eastern Shore Gathering). We will be there and be glad to share our experience of cruising a C-Dory. There's camping space there, b&b's nearby, and lots of good companionship amongst the east coast C-Dory owners.
Also, the New England C-Dory folks are in the beginning plans for a cruise on the Erie Canal this September and they will be full of ideas.
Good luck on your search. _________________ El and Bill (former live-aboards)

You could choose "Memberlist" above - the list pages can be sorted by several criteria, one of which is "location." Not as useful as it could be if there were separate state and city fields, but better than nothing, you could look for a particular city for example. Or you could just page through the list in its default sort order, which I think is "joined date." Then you could PM (private message) somebody reasonably close, and chances are 99% you will get an invite to come and see the boat. Good luck!

Welcome! There are quite a few teachers and retired teachers in this group, so you will be in fine company! I have always wanted to cruise around the Thimble Islands off Branford, and I think a C-Dory would be a great way to do it.
CTYankee, owner of Crescent Girl, lives somewhere in your neck of the woods and plans to attend the C-Dory gathering on the Chesapeake Bay Eastern Shore in June. There is another gentlemen from CT who left a note on my windshield while we were in Nova Scotia last summer expressing interest in our boat. He now has one on order with the dealer in New Hampshire.
If you find your way to the Washington DC area, you are most welcome to come out for a cruise on Otter anytime.
Best wishes, _________________ Tom on Otter |
