Having spent several winter nights huddled in the warm v-berth of SB, The Captain and I both came to the conclusion that the feed of the chain into the chainlocker needed to be plugged. A cold winter blast was keeping me up at night due to my cold feet.
Finally decided to have a fixed bulkhead installed to replace the snap-in vinyl sheeting. Got Gene at Mobile Marine East to do it and install a hatch too. This way we can use the area to stow the extra PFDs on board and also allow access when and if a wench is installed. Gene did a superb job and in addition to keep the summer smells of a wet line out it will also keep that blasting cold draft off my feet in the winter. |

Yes, get the wench to do her job, and if she's not warm enough in her doings, just trade her in on a hotter model.
