Just drove by the local gas station here in Sault Ste Marie, Ontario and the regular gas was selling for $124.6/liter = $5.66/gal
Looked on-line and gas is selling for $ 3.84 in Sault Ste Marie, Michigan
What happened to the Free Trade and Equal Pricing
I could understand when the Canadian Dollar was worth about 00.93 cents/USD or lower that there would be some discrepancy but the Canadian dollar is worth more than the USD now...big time crooks....think i will be hauling my boat back and forth to the marina just to save some money this year. Tug |

Gas here on the Island is 1.28/litre and at the marina, say Poet Nook, its over 1.32/litre. You can still buy marine fuel at the Coop for around 1.27/litre and its premium.
I can see lots of kicker use this year for fishing the sockeye run.

Like i said they are robbing us.No wonder everyone who can buys their gas in the USA.Think i will buy one of those 100 gallon gas tanks ( refill station ) that you put in the back of your 1/2 ton with the fill hose.Wonder if Canada customs would consider that a separate purchase and not a part of your truck and tax you.It would probably pay for itself in no time. Just returned from Sault Michigan, picked up my boat stands/boat ladder and 3M tape for marking the bottom paint line, gas was $ 3.849/G. It cost me $ 100.94 for 26.225G, going to be using my kicker this year.
The international bridge toll has dropped from $ 3.25 Canadian to $ 3.00 reflecting the raise of the Canadian dollar. Tug |

"They" is "you" - e.g. your government puts higher taxes on fuel with the idea that higher fuel costs will encourage conservation. The same concept is used throughout Europe. As the link provided ccflyer discusses, there are some benefits extended to Canadians (such as an alternative form of healthcare) that are also covered by higher taxes. Ever wonder why when you're coming back with full tanks from the US the older Americans are traveling the other direction with bags of medicine? _________________ Roger on Meant to be |

I don't think so. I think they tax things for the money; just my opinion here. That way they have the dollars to fund agencies like the EPA and the Department of Energy. Plus give money away to the needy etc. 4G for everyone, healthcare for everyone, foreign aid, sounds great. I hope they have to turn the faucet off over the budget impass. No party affilation here just dislike the politics of it all.

you can thank the recent US oil boom for much or the price reduction. There are hundreds of factors that make up the price of crude per barrel, there are another couple hundred in addition that make up price at the pump. The lower prices are mostly due to a huge oil glut the US (and most of the world) are in. The increased domestic supply is mostly due to new production techniques(hydraulic fracturing and some others). If the export ban is fully lifted we may see the prices hike up. Currently China's oil use growth rate is flat, a couple years ago they were drinking it down; this is also a big factor. Mostly it's simple supply and demand economics but there are some other factors (for example US oil is heavily subsidized) _________________ Conrad Metzenberg
