|
|
I want to get a full camper back canvas and full boat cover made for the TomCat. It came with a slant back canvas so, I'd like the camper back to make use of the existing snaps when possible. Any recommendations on who is still in business and doing good work in the Seattle area? I'm willing to go as far north as Blaine, as far south as Portland and as far east as Spokane to get a good job. _________________ Roger on Meant to be |

Guy Russell at "Emerald Cut" (206-524-3797) did an excellent job on my trawler cockpit enclosure about 5 years ago. They had a display at Fisheries Supply for a while, haven't seen it in maybe a year. Kind of an odd and fussy person, but I'm very happy with the results. _________________ 36' Little Harbor Whisperjet - Lulu

Roger,
When I purchased my boat in 2006 from EQ, Les used a canvas guy on Whidby Island for the camperback. They did a great job and it was cheaper than the people the factory were using at the time. Don't know if the're still in business but you could call Les or Kathy. _________________ Chris Brown

I had some work done by Churchill Bros., right there on West Marine Drive in Everett. They came highly recommended by people with boats in the marina. I am happy with the work they did for me. _________________ MartyP

I will second churchhil brothers. I need a replacement piece for the 22. Lost one of the small pieces that attaches to the cabin. I talked to the nice landy up front and see took my info around 11 am. called back at 1 and said if I could get it in by 2 I would have it back by 3. so I ran home, hitched up and dropped it off. One hour and 55 bucks later I was on the road. Good price, nice folks and really nice work. _________________ Thomas J Elliott

The guys who worked with Les at EQ also did our canvas work. They were two partners called The Canvas Riggers who split up a few years ago. One of them made a go of it by himself by I heard he's no longer in business. Too bad because they did nice work. _________________ Peter & Caryn

Oyster Creek Canvas on State Street in Bellingham did mine. Les @ EQ has commented to me what a nice job they did. Good work at a fair price. You can see photos of my camperback in my album.

Just ran across a note I'd made when talking to Les at EQ a couple of weeks ago - I believe he said that Oyster Creek Canvas in Bellingham appeared to be doing good work and was copying the design that he had come up with previously (the Whidbey canvas shop split up and went their separate ways). |

Dave did all the original canvas on the Mary Ellen. A few years later I had Dave do a bimini and also a cover for the inside of the hatch in the sleeping area. I was very satisfied with his work. I needed a new pin for the bimini and some velcro for the window covers and he was very quick to mail it out to me. I would consider Dave for your canvas work. |

We used Gregs Canvas in Gig Harbor and he did nice custom work with good materials based on a basic idea and some pictures of other boats from the c-brats site for reference. It is a small shop and he takes his time (slow) but we were very happy with the result which you can see in our album.

It's interesting that no one has mentioned King Marine Canvas in Seattle, the company the factory used to use. Is there are reason? _________________ Patti and Barry

Never used them myself. Roger is asking about using some existing snaps and willing to travel for good work so that says custom to me. Doesn't King mainly do template jobs and standard products? |

King Marine does custom canvas work and his quality is excellent. He does much of the canvas work for the Ranger Tugs as well as having templates for the C-Dory line. His prices are competitive and he does the canvas work for the Marinaut. When Big Mack mentioned Dave a few post above here, I believe he was referring to Dave Hauck (owner of King Marine).
