Have any of you tried to mount trim tabs on older C-Dorys
I started to do some preliminary setup and am gonna halve to make some tapered wedges to mount mine. the transom on my 83 is not square or flat. It is curved from port side to starboard side with the middle out about one inch farther than either outside edge. the 10 inch hinge will not work unless straight.
Any thoughts on this would be welcome

Roger- RedFox (Greg) has opne of the "classic" C-Dorys with trim tabs. I think he's currently down in the lower 48, but posted yesterday. Look over his boat and project pictures in his photo album, and you caqn see some of the details of the installation. As soon as he's back at home, he'll be glad to tell you all about the details. Roger-The pictures are in the "Classic C-Dory Projects" Photo Gallery on the C-Brats site. The trim tab pictures are mixed in with other projects on his boat, but all on the same :"page". Joe

Roger- There are also photos on this C-Brats Tech site under the last topic "Trim Tabs, Hydrofoils, ......" The first five are of a newer style boat, and the rest of the older "classic" boat (Red Fox's). Joe

Roger -
I will try my durndest to scrounge up some high-tech, high-strength, high-falutin' plastic you can use to make those wedge deals. You can cut it on a table saw, and shape it with a plane and/or a rasp to get it to fit the hull. The stuff I am thinking about is strong enough to tap for bolts at the thick end. You can counter bore it for screws into the fiberglass, and just run the hinge screws through it at the skinny end. I am writing myself a note right now so I don't forget. If I find some, I can bring it to the SBS for you to look at. Stainless would be the best choice, but it is real hard to shape to fit a contour and still keep it square on the opposite edge. I will try to find space shuttle quality stuff.

It ain't all bad news, Ken. My note for today says "Plastic for Roger, Rubber for B~C". If they quit busting stuff here I will find what I can and get some poor sap to sign a removal permit for it. The material will be free, but expect a jump in paper prices.

I'm all for a paper product price increase if the money goes to help enhance the C-Bratting experience......Mike, you're an all around good guy ...or....GOB

Roger - Score!!
B~C - Score!!
Roger - You aren't going to believe it: The NASA approved plastic is black!
B~C - You will believe it: The anchor-roller-cushioning-high-density-foam-stickyback-rubber doesn't come in blue. You got black, too.
I hope to see you and let you see your stuff this weekend.
